Finally i caved in and decided to make a cardomain! i told myself i wouldnt do it but i guess we all have to give in eventually right?
well here it is, my work of art... a 1992 Ford Festiva L w/ 1.3L 62hp motor and a 5spd transmission.
it started out this last september (2005) with 124,000 miles and its original owner who solt it to me for a whopping 150$. guy didnt drive it anymore and just wanted to get rid of it! it was amazingly clean and unrusty considering it spent its whole life in minnesota and had only been waxed once since bought new!
now this wasnt my first festiva, ive ahd a series of 5 now, each getting more and more mods than the last. my previous festiva (which i still have) had only one real big upgrade, the aspire brake conversion! well when i got this car i decided to swap it over into my new festy...
after that i bought rims! 15x6.5 bought off ebay from pep boys surplus for 200$ SHIPPED!!! how sweet is that?
not too long later i bought a hatch spoiler from Festiva Motorsport, and decided it was time to start really ripping into this thing to make it truly mine!
and what better to make an 1800lb car fast than a motor upgrade? originaly this car was pretty slow, but with my slightly redneck knowledge of using parts from different cars together, i managed to drop in a 1.8L DOHC motor and Hydraulic transmission from a 1991 Escort GT parts car!
and what a difference that thing made! i added in a full 2.5" exhaust with no cat and a straight through muffler, a pacesetter header for the escort motor, and a custom aluminum intake i had to adapt to fit in the escort VAF... this whole swap wasnt too tough but did require alot of fab work with custom mounts, and a pair of mercury capri XR2 axles to make the tranny work!
after that i added in a set of custom brackets and a pair of 1985 pontiac fiero seats (which hug your body so well and have dual 3.5" speakers in the headrests!) and a set of VW Golf II coilovers into the rear for adjustability!
then i added a system! i put 6.5" alpine type X components into the rear deck (i got from a previous festiva i owned) and 4" audiobahn components in the front in the stock locations.
needed some bass after that! so i bought a 15" audiobahn flame Q sub on ebay and used a 1000W pioneer class D mono amp i had lying around to power it...
i have about a million more mods to add to this list but not enough time to put em on today! come back as i put up more pics and hopefully do a small writeup on my next project for this little rocket...
a custom turbo setup!!! :D
if you have any questions i can be found on www.FordFestiva.com's forums under the name of IDEALSOCIETY!
