Update - november 30, 2004

WHOA! FrankenProbe has returned to all-motor prowess. The race motor has been sold along with the nitrous setup. Now running an internally stock KLZE with bolt-ons and chasing 12s! Current all-motor best is 13.32 @ 102.3 mph with a 1.82 60ft time. The car is being currently race-prepped for the assault on the 12-sec slip :) Stay tuned for updates and the upcoming Dec. 11th runs.

Update - September 6, 2004
Wow, finally an update! The car finally started realizing some of its potential earlier this summer, with a couple of 12-second passes STILL with low bottle pressure (running 750-850 psi when NX asks for 950-1050 optimum pressure). No matter, because it was enough to break 2 transmissions, which have frustrated me to the point of axing the drag project. I'm now sporting a '90 Talon TSi AWD Turbo in search of the lower ETs I was looking for. The Probe ended up making a touch over 320 crank HP (with the 150 shot).

Jan 15, 2004 - New updates coming soon - paintjob is done, more weight has been removed, and rollcage build is in progresss. Time for some slicks and a few final nitrous runs :)

JDAutosport's 1993 Ford ProbeThis is the future of FrankenProbe - we'll be road racing the beast from here on out. The paint scheme is obviously PS, but it's just to get an idea of how it will look when done.

Update September 15:

*well, the transmission is no longer among us. The spider gears decided that they've seen enough of the 350+ lb/ft of treatment and collectively disintegrated in the differential, making a yummy metal alloy soup. I'll have some pics as soon as the diff. is apart. Now onto shotpeened new gears, and the quest for 12s continues :)

Update September 10:

*Finally got a good run in with good bottle pressure - new best is now 13.30 @ 113mph. The car is starting to deliver :) - now waiting for some slicks. Backed it up with a 13.4 @ 110, but the bottle pressures were already just below 950psi at the line.

Update September 2:

--the HOOD and WHEELS are now for sale so I can finance the rest of my project. The hood is rubbing the nitrous lines. It is a Michel Fortier original hood (only 40 ever made), fitted and painted. Comes complete with hood pin set. $450 + shipping.
--wheels are Konig Rhythm 18"x7.5" in Black Opal finish. Minor nicks and scratches associated with 1 year of use. Front tires are 225/40/ZR18 Kumhos Ecsta Supra 712, rear tires are Toyo Proxes 235/40/ZR18. All with good tread left on them. $800 + shipping on those.
--email me

Update August 27:

--still fighting with bottle pressure. 3 more low-pressure runs yielded a best of 13.7 @ 110.1 mph, but the car didn't feel as fast as it ought to be...again. Time to go spend moeny on parts again! Bottle heater & purge kit next, nitrous controller & slicks after that....sigh....it's a never ending money pit! :)

Update August 23:

--finally ran at the track last wednesday, but had some hiccups as I set the one MSD Ignition box setting incorrectly. By the time I fixed that, I wwas low on nitrous, but still managed a couple of respectable passes: 13.8 @ 108.7mph, and 13.9 @ 109.2 mph. Timing retarded 6.5 degrees on both runs, 60 ft was a 2.3 and a 2.4 Not too bad for a couple of untuned, low bottle pressure runs :) - more tuning still ahead.

Yes, you can add an external coil to a stock PGT distributor - you do need, however, to modify the disty cap (add a coil wire tower and bypass the internal igniter) to accept the coil wire. ProbeSport makes modified disty caps that are a direct bolt-on - here you go: http://www.probesport.com/mdc04.html

I just wanted to know if you can put a MSD blaster coil on a stock distributor on my probe GT or did you get a different one.
