**THIS IS A HALF ASSED HACKED AIRBOX WRITE UP**

im assuming if you gonna try doing this u can do things like take your battery out and remove the airbox without me telling you how how many bolts screws to take off or what size rachet to use.

step 1. remove the airbox. pull the 4 clips, then take out filter. disconnected maf (4 bolts) plus the sensor connectors. unscrew the air temp sensor on the side of top airbox. pull off top airbox. remove lower airbox. there should be 3 bolts. them take a dremel and cut the lower airbox anyway you want. bigger and more holes = more intake sound. my end result was this.

step 2- remove battery without getting shocked, u dont have to do this but it gives you extra room. look at where the resonator under the battery is. there is 1 10mm bolt connected to where the battery tray and the relay box. take that out. there is 1 more 10mm bolt behind and a lil bit to the left of the first bolt(i was standing behind the fender, that left). u will need a rachet extension to get it. feel it out with your bare hand first. not that hard to find. then remove the resonator. i left the downpipe to the resonator on there. add tape to it from whre it connects to the snokel cause it gets a little flimsy since its not connected at the resonator anymore. mine looks like this.

step 3.(optional) get a philips screw driver and unscrew the circle clamp from the 2nd resonator connected to the part on intake behind the MAF and before the accordian rubber piece. unscrew/bolt the part that connects the 2nd resonator to the intake snorkel. pull it off. stick a hobby shop size spray paint cap on the opening. add some tape around it to make it air tight. mine looks like this.(used the old candy apple red can cap for my red out tails. :)

(some say dont do this because the extra after maf air helps with throttle response. i put mine back on. no difference, but left it on cause in too lazy to take it back off)

end result looks like this. pretty stock looking still huh. i doubt a machanic or smog person will ever know i touched anything. yeah i know, my engine bay is dirty!!

excuse the type, too lazy to fix it.

have fun doing yours. i like result. smoother accel than a hybrid. not as loud or annoying. u can still hear your intake growl deep at WOT. its just not loud. i feel no real loss or gain from the HAI i had. but there is more response on partial or half throttle and slightly more low end power(1-3k) than on an my BOMZ HAI. gain of an HP or 2 there over the HAI. very top end (after 5.5k i proably lose an HP or 2 to the HAI though) so its all about what u want. low end or top end. free mod or $50-200 on an intake system that will give you no real noticeable gains. have fun. lates.

i also have a k&n panel filter to increase airflow

there is no correct way to make a hacked airbox. u can try any combo u want. you can remove resonators, cutting holes in the lower airbox, cutting a big hole at the bottom of the 1st resonator will almost be a free CAI system. its all cool flowing air where that is. u can drill holes in the lower airbox, you can remove the stock intake snorkel, u can add a midpipe, whatever you want. lots of different options.. play around with it and see what u like best.
