I just bought it yesterday and took delivery today - Friday the thirteenth, for those of you who pay attention to that stuff. This car was donated to the American Cancer Society as a tax write off. They in turn put it on a used car lot on consignment. I knew the owner of the lot who sold it me at no profit to himself. Although it has a few minor cosmetic problems, which you will see in the before pictures, it is very strong mechanically. Check out the added bonus - the metal ID tag mounted on the grill that allows you entrance behind the gates at Pebble Beach. Now I just have to find a reason to go there.
It only has 120,000 miles on it which is practically nothing for this model car and not too shabby for a car that's 21 years old. Even though it's of drinking age here in California, I doubt it will "drink" much. The air and heater are inoperative, and the cruise control does nothing. I guess this is common and frustrating to get repaired, but I'll see what happens.
The driver's side is pretty clean and good shape. The lug nuts are really corroded and the wheels need to be refinished. The car was stored at Pebble Beach, CA so I'm amazed there isn't more salt corrosion on it.
The passenger side is about the same as the driver's side, but has the added excitement of two small shopping cart dings in the front door. These should easily come out by pulling. The paint isn't cracked where these dings are located, but there are a few scratches near there which will have to either be touched up or maybe just I'll just get the entire car repainted.
The interior shows some minor signs of wear, plus there is the lovely obligatory burn on the passenger side front seat. I haven't made up my mind exactly what to do about that yet. Man, I'll bet somebody felt it when they dropped that cigarette and burned the front passenger seat! - LOL
I'm looking forward to getting to work on this car and hope to have it in tip top shape a year from now. I have a limited budget, but will get things done little by little. By Jul 2 I will have the front suspension rebuilt, the leaking front crank seal replaced and be a lot poorer. If I get it done in one day, I'll start putting in the new JVC in dash CD player and radio.
