I've taken a bit of ribbing about this, but I got inspired to go out and shave the casting numbers off of all the lenses on the car. I took them all off, and wet sanded them under the kitchen faucet with 1500-grit paper, then with 2000-grit paper, and finished them off with some polishing compound and plastic polish. It's not readily visible, but makes for a cleaner finish, and I don't get that crappy white dried wax in them anymore.

Winter 2002/2003. If you lived in the Mid-Atlantic, you know what I'm talking about.

On a 2003 trip to San Diego, I found a place that rented Miatas called Atwest Rent-A-Car, so of course I had to get one. And hey, it was cheaper than most other rentals.
Here's a pic of the rental, taken in Point Loma. It was a base model '99 that needed some TLC pretty badly. I liked the torque of the 1.8 motor, but about the only thing this car will ever be good is a Spec Miata race car project. I've also included a pic showing how much gas cost in Coronado, CA in June 2003. It was amazingly high at the time, but now it's considered cheap!
