Introduction:This is my '61 VW Ragtop, my first car too. My family has a long history with VW's, from '56 Oval Ragtop's to '02 Wolfsburg Jetta's. I cannot take the credit for the restoration/customization of this bug, but I am doing a good job maintaining it, finishing the electrical, adding accessories like a roof rack and soon to come: Narrowed beam, Chromed swamp cooler, finishing stereo.
Quick Overview:
Car is sitting on OG pan, Body, has OG glass except front and side (one piece window kits). Clean title of course. The colour is a PPG Raspberry, not pink. In video it looks orange so I'm thinking it has an orange clear coat. The interior has been completly customized and redone. The Carpet is beautiful and the side panels and seats (not covers) are as nice if not better. The dash has been smoothed and there are now 5 gauges instead of the single speedo/odometer combo that came originally with the car in 1961. The trunk is also carpeted. The Ragtop is a real ragtop, not a kit. Made of stayfast canvas and new metal, it slides like a champ. It has a 3" diameter Mondo muffler that sets off alarms left and right, still sounds like a VW deep down inside, but it doesn't *fweeeeem*. The Engine is a 1641cc w/ Dual 40 Dellortos, mild cam and crank. The engine tin is painted grey, carbs are painted raspberry, distributer is painted rasberry and grey.
