My Car's Story
"It don't get more like a first car than that!"
Hey, welcome to what is my car. I first bought it for $900 from a guy that bought it for a second car. But he did not use it and it had been sitting in his back garage for at least a year. The original price asked for $1300, but with a little haggling and waiting it out, we got it for the price we did. (All monitary units are in Canadian dollars) From what we can tell, I'm the fourth owner of this car. The first owner took very, very good care of this car. It was most probably imported from Japan as it had a Vancouver map in the side pocket. Evidence of it being well cared can be seen on the engine, with new sparkplugs, tires, and a well maitained machine. The second owner was most probably the teenager that installed the CD player and badly setup speakers. There was evidence that an amp was present in the back seat. After redoing the entire wiring system for the speakers and re-installing the CD player, it works fine. The side panel shakes a little when the bass is up, but oh well. I'll take what I can get. The third owner was a inept mechanic and should be shamed for hurting such a beautiful car. I'm not sure who it was, but they PUT THE FREEKING WHEEL NUTS ON BACKWARDS!!! Some of the good things that came of this car were that it has a HUGE trunk, a working electric sunroof, almost brand new winter tires (YAY!!!), interior heater, uninstalled racing pedals, decent CD player, and well maintained interior. A few of the downsides that I experienced so far with this car is the following : very small for 6'0 person, had to replace radiator, altenator, carborator. (Thank God for old Celicas having similar build) Some rust, out of sync first gear, and the high beams don't work.
As a student, I found this car to be perfect. Aside from the fact that it is a SOLIDLY built car, it runs for being 20 plus years old, and I've gotten two requests from people who wanted to buy it, this car kicks some ass.
History : Let me put this bluntly. This car is old. And the Internet wasn't around then, so finding info on it was tough. Anyway, here is what I managed to find. I'm not sure when they started building it, but it was designed to be a family sedan. In 1983, it was replaced by the Camry. (!!!) Yeah, thats about it. Even the info on the Toyota.com site is limited.
