This is the frame of the wooden bed that was on the truck when I got it. The bed was about 6 inches bigger than the cab on each side which obstructed the mirrors view and also was just plain ugly. The bed also had a big square rack on top which didnt help.

After bed was removed. After i removed the bed i decided to touch up the frame with some paint and rubberized undercoating which makes it look better and last a lot longer.

As you can see i removed the original bumper bracket and trailer hitch wich shortened the frame about a foot and a half and also made it a little lighter.

This is the basic frame for the new flatbed along with the following photos.

This picture shows the bed frame with a tailgate wich will be mounted on hinges for easy use.

Heres a picture of the frame set on top of the chassis for a better idea of what it will look like.

Another view.

This is just the beginning of the new bed, it will be lined wih diamond plate steel and have a head board. Also there will be an angled tire mount for a baja look and easy access spare. There will also be some angled bard coming from the sides of the headboard to the sides of the bed frame and some KC lighting. It's all a matter of time.

UPDATE

fuscomafia's 1988 Toyota Pickup

Well after looking at every aspect between Aluminum and Steel Diamond plate I have chosen steel. Why? More durable, Stronger, Cheaper, and is more easy to work with. At first the look and weight of aluminum won me over but I decided it would be to much work and not as compatible with the steel bed frame.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
