Some history:

Im the 20th owner of this car. The car made its way from America to Sweden sometimes in 1975. It was first registerd the 8th of September 1975. Im going to try to find out the history of the car, it might turn out difficult, but Ill try.

Well anyway, if you recognize this VIN number XP29G0G224658 please mail me, it would be fun to get some info from you, if you know something about the car.

MeFirst's 1970 Dodge Charger

The VIN number: X=Dodge Charger, P=Premium, 29=2-door sports hardtop G=318, 230Hp 1-2bbl 8cyl, 0=1970, G=St. Louis MO. Usa

I bought the car the 20th of May 2003 after a long time of searching (I just want to say this, -If you have a car that you dream of and you find it, dont think -JUST GET IT!!!) I had a hard time because I couldnt quite make up my mind (this is going to upset some people) if I wanted a Dodge Charger 1968-1970 (Personaly I like the yearmodel 1970 the most) or a Ford Mustang Mach 1 1970. Well now I have made my choice and im happy with it, but I feel that if I had went for the Mustang I would have been happy aswell...

Anyways, I got a good friend of mine to tag along and go look at the Charger. It was love at first sight : ) So the car ended up going home with me. It ran great the 350km home to Stockholm and consumed about 70 liters of fuel (thats about 2L/10km).

MeFirst's 1970 Dodge Charger

On the way home the car scared the shit outtaw me 2 times and made me realise what kind of "force" hides inside it. The first time I almost wet myself (Note: I didnt come close to shiting my pants the first time, that came later) and I kinda lerned the hard way what the meaning of "kickdown" stands for. I was driving pass this car on the freeway and I hit the accelerator hard and BLAM! the gears changed down and the world started to move realy, realy fast and me nailed to the seat. I dont know or remember if i screamed "Aaarrhhhgghh" but it shore was an awsome feeling : )

MeFirst's 1970 Dodge Charger

The second time, the time I almost shit myself, came later. I was about to turn of the freeway. It was a hard right turn and I slowed down nicely and started the turn, gave it some more gas and BLAM! the 4bbl opend wide and gave way for some muscle and tourque so I came out the turn in a wide slide. The rear end decided that it wanted to come out from the turn before the front end of the car. I lerned that wide tires, a V8 engine, a nice amount of tourque, rain and a wery wet road isnt a good combination.

So take it easy fellas, so you dont end up destroying your pride and joy, ok? (Note:I wish that someone had stood there with a video camera. I would have loved to see the car make that wide slide out from the turn "smileing") The story ends well and I got home alright and so did the "Black Babe"

The following days I just cruised around the city. I did race one car though. Theese two young dudes were out with what I presume was the drivers dads car. They lined up besides me at a traffic light.. My comments to you guys in the black BMW are -Have your dad buy a faster car!

Stay tuned, more coming up soon...

27/5 I bought and installed a stereo and amp, so now I have music, the roar of the V8 is fun, but music is still music. I also called up a local carshop, so now ill go and have them make an alaround tune-up sometimes next week.. (Note: It took over a month to get a time to the carshop!)

Stay tuned... Ooh..If you made it this far, please sign my guest book, thanks..

1/6-03 I had some problems with engine noise coming through my amp to the speakers. Realy and totaly annoying. The worst part was that I couldnt quite pinpoint the problem, but, yesterday I nailed it. The problem was that I had turned up this 'Gain' knob on my Amp way to much. This resulted in making the signal, from the Stereo to the amp, to be lower in singnal output than the preset gain in the Amp. This caused the engine noise in my speakers. So I just turned down the gain on the amp and the noise problem was solved. Like Murphy´s Law clearly states '-You´ll always find the problem in the last place you look'.

Here are some tips and things to remember when installing an audio system in your car:

1. Always run the power cable on one side of the car, then run the RCA cable on the other side, if you run both cables on the same side you´ll most sertainly end up with annoying noise.
2. Always use BIG and good quality cables, both for power, ground, speakers and RCA, this could be said aswell like this -The bigger the better!

MeFirst's 1970 Dodge Charger

3. Connect the ground cable securely to the chassie. Remember to scrape of al the paint under the connector so you´ll have a good ground connection.
4. Remeber to connect a Fuse within 18' from the car battery.

MeFirst's 1970 Dodge Charger

5. A Gain controll on the Amp is NOT a volume controll! The gain controll is ment to be used to match the signal voltage between the stereo and amp.
6. Noise problems can also accure because of porly working car alternator or other problems with the cars own electrical system.
7. Never use the factory power or ground wires/cables for anything, they are mostly of poor/low quality.

MeFirst's 1970 Dodge Charger

Noise problems originates from the following: -Low quality cables, the antenna, make shore that the car has good functioning electrical system, upgrade and renew alternator, battery, etc if needed, make shore that the sound system is matched for compability, correct wireing of the system, poor ground connection, and last –Extra Terestrial Signals from outter Space???
If you dont feel secure in making the sound system wireing yourself, then leave it to the professionals. If you dont know what you are doing, there is a good chance that you´ll just end up setting fire to your car. (Note: I will not take responsibility, neither can I be accused if you use theese tips, and still end up shortcutting your electrical system and buring up your car!)

2/6-03 00.45pm I went out cruising this evning. I ended up racing two cars, well one and a ½ to be exact. The first race was against the ½ car, a Wolkswagen Golf GTi –He lost big time! The second race was against a Chevrolet Corvette, year model something like 1999-2001, I have no idea. The race wasnt that good due to some traffic infront of us. We got a clean start, but not a cleane run because of the traffic. Oh well, no matter, I know he would have whipped my butt with his Corvette. I have to say this -Im begining to seriously make plans about what to do to my engine and car : ) (Note: When racing, either legaly or illegaly, always, and I meen ALWAYS remember -Safety first!!! There is NO point in racing if there is alot of traffic or in areas were innocent people might get hurt. So dont be stupid and end up wrecking yourself, your car, some innocent person who just is in the wrong place at the wrong time. No race, specialy NO car race is worth that!!!)

4/7-03 Hello. Just a little note. I had an incident the other day. I lost my rightside tail pipe! Hmm, how you may wonder.. Well, I drove a little to fast over this stupid speedbump and the rightside pipe hit the bumb with the followoing result. The pipe ripped of just infront of the muffler, well no worries, 4 minutes of a little banging with a hammer and welding the pipe was as good as new. But I dont think the neighbours liked me at al driving home that night, the time was already passed 1am, so I think many people on my street got a rude awakening.. : )
Ooh yes, before this insident with the tailpipe I had a run in with the local law inforcement people. Nothing serious, they just had this traffic and speed controll and waved me in aswell, but not to give me a ticket, they just wanted to take a look at my car. Kinda funny feeling to have 5 police officers standing around your car and giving you the thumbs up and asking things about it. I kinda got the feeling that they did some kind of research, like just to find out things about me and the car, if they ever run into us in anykind of "illegal" activity on the streets?? Well, who knows? Maby Im just paranoid? But then again the cops can be a little tricky some times..
This is al for now. Ill be making a major update soon to theese pages. I will be posting more pictures aswell. The reason its taking time is that we have had so much rain this last month so I havent had a chanse to take any good pics and I have been away from town for both buisness and pleasure a cupple of weeks.. And a thank you to al who have wisited my page : )
Untill next time...

4/7-2003 Hmm, ran into problems. I found my Charger "dead" this evning. I was going to drive to work, but the "Black Lady" refused to start. So, now I have this mystery to solve. Has the battery droped dead, has the starter quit or is the generator busted or is it some other electrical problem??? Right now I have no idea. Im shore I didint leave the lights on when I left it in the garage the day before. I have to start an investigation when I get home from work whats wrong with the Lady.

6/7-2003 Yes, I nailed the problem. My black lady had a worne out battery. A friend of mine came over and we took some juice outtaw his car to get the Black Lady started. She started with a roar. I then went to a nearby Gasstation and got her a new battery, after that she spun like a kitten again. Hopefully she will be ok for now. Tomorrowe Ill try to get her to the carshop. It has been hell to get a time to the carshop for a tuneup. When you call them Ive got this answer so many times -Sorry, but we are drowning in work here, call back later.. But now I will take her on Monday. Hopefully Ill get her back even more "Bitchy" than she already is : )
Ooh yes, I have some pictures now, I just have to scan them and Ill post them as promised, sorry it has taken so long.
Untill next time then... Tom

MeFirst's 1970 Dodge Charger

7/7-2003 Went out cruising this evning. Not much action in the city, but what can you expect on a Monday night right? I went for some late night snack at this diner were alot of crazy Jap motorcyclist hang out (Al motorcyclists are CRAZY!!! I know, Ive been one!) Specialy the guys and girls (and me) who ride the Jap missiles called GSX, ZZR, CBR, YZR, PCP etc.. that go from 0-60Mph in like under 3 seconds..and like how many of you who drive "old" muscle cars havent been harassed by motorcyclists.. The typical senario is -Ýou are on the freeway, you take a look in the mirror and you see this tiny "spot" thingy like a mile behind you. Three seconds later the tiny "spot" has caught up with you and blasts right by you, like a bat with its ass on fire. And even if you have a Hemi426 or 440 + Nitroz and Sat**s brother under the hood and God sitting on the passenger seat and the wirgin Mary praying, as she sits in you lap you cant catch the son of a b***.. Then a cupple of miles later, you pull in for some gas, this "idiot" is sitting there, on top of his/her bike, at the gas station, eating a hotdog and has the "balls" to ask you -What took you so long?? (Been there, done that : )

MeFirst's 1970 Dodge Charger

The thing I was going to tell you about was, that outside the Diner I saw this realy neat looking white Ford Mustang 1971. It had a RAMAIR scoop and a 351 engine. I started to look around who might be the owner of the car. Turned out to be this guy in my age. We started to talk and checked out each others cars. Turned out that this dude lives like stone throw away from me. So we ended the night, as we both had the same way home, with a friendly car race -Charger v.s Mustang. (Hmm, was I talking about what idiots motorcyclist are earlier???) Anyway, the race was called even. Racing from a traffic light and a stand still, I was one car length faster over a distance of about two blocks. But with a rolling start the dude in the Mustang took viktory.. This viktory I could blame on the fact I wasnt prepared, so he got a jump start on me..bla, bla, bla... But it was fun : ) specialy the sound effect caused by 751 cids roaring like a thunder storm, when we drove through the tunnel to the south side of the city..

MeFirst's 1970 Dodge Charger

11/7-2003 I finaly got the Black Lady in for a tune-up. Well there wasnt much to tune, everything worked just as it should, but thats good to know aswell. I changed the oil in the engine and trans. I didnt change the oil in the rear, the reason is that the gasket is leaking abit, so I just filled it up so it wont go dry. Ill do that change later.
I also got a the first real good look under the car. Good news -NO rust to bee seen anyware. But I also noticed I have to cange al the bushings in the front, they looked kinda bad and worne, but thats a project Ill do in the winter.

MeFirst's 1970 Dodge Charger

Damn! I was so mad at myself today. I would have got the cooles picture in the world today, but I forgot my camera, its so typical. -My Black Lady parked besides the car "Eleanor"!!!! Yes, the car Nicholas Cage drove in the movie "Gone in 60 seconds", the Ford Mustang 1967 Shelby. This guy has a garage just next to the shop were I get al the parts for my car. He has gotten his hands on a kit to build an "Eleanor", and its now almost finnished, just some minor detailing left. He also has made a copy car of the car in the "Batman" movie, the new version, not the TV series. The "Batmobile" has been in an add for Pioneer stereo equipment. Well, anyway I spoke with the guy for a while and he promised I could take a pic if my car and "Eleanor" if I wanted, so like how cool is that!!! Ill post that pic imidiately when I have taken it, thats a promise!

MeFirst's 1970 Dodge Charger

25/7-03 Well as you may have noticed I have done some updates concerning the picture situation.. I got myself a Digital camera today.. So these are the first pictures of many to come...
So whats been going on with me and the Black Lady? Well not that much realy.. I had some problems though. My altornator gave up on me and the Lady last week. I was out cruicing and suddenly everything just went black, and the car just droped dead. Well I got her home, and started to investigate what caused this. The alternator was busted.. No worries. I got a new one, so now everything is ok again. Im also going to do a drum to disc brake swap. I got my hands on a disc brake system from a Plymouth Duster, so after that is done I dont have to worry that Ill run over some ricer due to poor brakes.. Well thats it for now, thanks for stopping by, and take care... Here are two new pics to enjoy..
