No more screwing around this year. The car was allright last year but left me wanting more. Besides that I had numerous turbo oiling issues. Needless to say do not feed your turbo from your cyl head. Im not sure if it was the size of the line or the feed location that caused this trouble but all I know is that it was annoying.
Meanwhile this is what ive been up to.
The gtx engine is a good motor but she was old and tired and in desperate need of a rebuild. Its been turbo for about 12 years now and even though compression was still pretty strong, it was time.
Ahh, the old tired engine has been removed and immedately stripped down to be sent off to be hot tanked, cleaned up and bored.
This engine bay just wont do so it also gets the once over.
Truckbed liner did wonders. I just hope it holds up. After I did that I redid the wiring throughout the engine bay.
Meanwhile I happened upon this gem of a turbo that someone had for sale.
Its a diamond in the rough, T3/T4 Turbonetics Ball Bearing turbo that will hopefully deliver some good power to have fun with.
And when I say diamond in the rough, this is what I mean.
Polished to perfection.
Meanwhile, the parts started rolling in. Wiseco 8.5:1 pistons, Pauter Rods, ACL race bearings and a full gasket set.
Just a matter of getting it all assembled. Well I really didnt want to screw anything up clearancing the bearings and gaping the rings so I brought the engine to a professional engine builder and had him install it for me. Id risk it on a winter beater but not when there is this much at stake.
Ahh back from the shop and clean as a whistle.
OOH, just sexy looking.
Well now its time to get this bitch togethor. Things should move fast now. In go my just recieved ARP headstuds. As if there was any other brand to use.
And on goes the head..
From that point I neglected to take some pictures but this was basically the next step.
And just some more pics to show the progress made last night.
Ill try and keep this updated since I havent in a while. The motor is not in the car yet Im still waiting to get my diff back from the lsd being installed. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks Ill be able to get it all put in and fire her up.
