I'm building up my 02 touring, I'm a senior in highschool and I'm restoring this as my senior project. My motor is nearing completion, the short block is completely built it was bored out to about 2.1 liters displacement. For my go fast goodies I'm going to be using euro tii pistons with a 9.5:1 compression ratio, but after the block and head were surfaced, the cr was raised closer to 9.8 or 9.9:1 which should support the wild 304 degree schrick camshaft a little bit better. I'll be using dual weber dcoe 45 carbs as well. As far as the drivetrain goes, I've got a aluminum flywheel, sport clutch and pressure plate, I'll also be installing a 5 speed overdrive transmission from a 320i along with a limited slip differential with a 3.91 set of gears. For stoppers, I've got a big brake conversion, featuring many parts from a 1977 320i, due to their vented rotors. The suspension is going to be comprised of H&R sport springs(if you are going to buy these, buy them from www.tirerack.com, they have the best pricing and shipping service), Bilstein sport shocks, Ireland Engineering swaybars, and urethane bushings and a strut-brace may come down the road. I can't wait for it to all be done and I'd love to hear what you think of what I'm doing.
