!!!!!Please Sign My Guest Book and let me know what i should do to the car.. Thanks in advanced for all that help!!!!!
Does any one know were i can find After market parts for this car.. exhaust, intakes, FSTBs, RSBs???
This is my new Project car i am starting to work on
its a 1989 Chevy Cavalier Z24
the Engine is dead so i am swaping that out and there are a few things that need to be replaced.
My sister owned this as her first car and has never taken care of it so when she bought her new 2002 Grand Prix i told her i would take it even tho it didnt run.
The grill isnt the original grill for this car and the driver side mirror broke so my father... took window sealent or cocking and sealed it in place.... the funny thing is he is very smart in other area.... just not cars or how to take care of them.
So any ways the car will rev but will not turn over and will backfire alot when the gas peddle is pressed. my thoughts are either the timing is way off or one or more of the valves are burnt, (she has never changed the oil so that is a possibility)
I am getting another 2.8L engine with only 75k miles on it and swaping out the old one that has 208k miles on it.
I am always looking for other ideas that i can do to this car and would love to get input from anyone on what i can do with out making it look Riced out (dont want a Honda Civic look to it)
Just want basic mods for performance and maybe a few small ones for Looks but nothing drastic like a 2 foot high Wing on the back and a front spoiler that sticks out 2 feet infront of the car...lol...
***** Update ******
Got the engine in the car and the engine runs great.....BUT!!!! Found out there is more problems then we needed... the breaks dont work, it needs transmission work, power steering has a leak someware, and some electrical work ..
the breaks are the biggest issue. the peddle has no pressure and it travles all the way to the floor. im thinking that it may be either abad master cyliner or air in the lines or rotted breaklines.. no clue yet will bleed them over the weekend and go from there.
The Tranny just needs the TCC silinoid replaced, so that wont be too bad.. (i hope).
power steering isn't leaking that bad so i can live with it for a little while while i get the other things fixed.
as for electrical it is a few small things like the radio, and speakers and the horn not working.
But at least the engine runs great!!
Got the correct grille for the car but no clips to mount it so i am waiting on those now
