This is my 1982 280ZX. It's a rolling resto/daily driver project. I try to fix or modify it whenever time permits. The modifications done so far aren't too crazy, but hey this is being done on a student budget! (I can only sacrifice a certain amount of my Top Ramen money! j/k) =)

Best 1/4: 14.389@98.12 mph
Best 1/8: 9.187@78.4 mph
Highest hp: 178hp, 209 lb/ft torque (dynoed May 10, 2003) This was on .62 BAR of boost, not .8 like my 1/4 mile run. I hope this will be higher now that the new turbo is on.

Updates:

10-28-09... Thought I'd just post a quickie update.  I haven't done much work to the Z.  I did pick up a built short block that one day I will put into the Z.  My AEM Wideband gauge took a dump, so I need to save up for a replacement.  So for now I have not been boosting too often.

2-3-09... Not too much going on with the Z.  I've been swamped at work, and a little lazy during my free time.  =P  I did swap out the passenger bucket seat for a Z31 vinyl seat.  I figured since my Z is becoming more and more of just a daily driver (I haven't done any moutain driving in a long time), that I would make it more comfortable to ride in for long drives.  I even plan to install the a/c system if I could remember how the lines were hooked up.  @_@

I also installed a J-spec valve cover for the motor.  I think I'll polish it too before the MSA show this spring.  Another thing is I've bought a lot of exhaust piping to fab up a full 3" catback since my current exhaust is too loud for me, and 2 of the bends are press bent... =(  I bought a huge Magnaflow muffler which should quiet up my ride nicely.  It looks similar to the old HKS exhaust I had on my Z when I first bought it, except the inlet is 3" instead of 2 3/8", and the length is 30" instead of 24".  I also added a page 8 since my journal entries take up a lot of space.  You can go there to see the older ones.

1-5-09...  Happy new year!  Well, I got the HIDs in, but one of my adjusting screws broke, and a retaining ring for the headlight also broke, so I will be fixing that asap tomorrow morning.  The alternator and bushings for the t/c rod will be next.  The one thing I am glad though is that I can finally see at night!  It's kinda nice not having to memorize roads anymore!  =)

12-25-08... Merry Christmas! ^0^  The weather isn't too great today, so I'm going to have to wait to add my new present to the Z:  HIDs!  Yay, now I'll finally be able to see at night without having to know the road beforehand.  The current lights are not very good, and although the driving lights I have help out a lot, I cannot see anything to the left or right side of my Z which makes it difficult to negotiate turns.  These HIDs should help tremendously!

I have a friend eager to weld up some aluminum intake pipes. I'll have this beast intercooled and with a BOV soon. Then more boost. Today is my first day with insurance on the turbo Z. I'll drive tomorrow to work.
