More mods for my EVO! Got the Cusco OS rear strut bar, Momo T100 floormats and a Razo shift knob.

Got a few more things this month. :)
AMS mini battery, Apexi intake, GReddy turbo timer, and a HallmanProRX MBC.

I got a little crazy last month and spent some money. I got my hands on some HKS 264 i/e cams, TurboXS FMIC and Helix Intercooler pipes. I also picked up a Walbro 255 fuel pump.

The latest additions this month were: Helix oil catch can, Kartboy short shifter, Hotchkis springs and a Dejontool intake pipe. Nothing that really makes my car faster, just for looks. The springs really fill the fender gap well. The car is not too low, and the spring rates of the Hotchkis springs don't make it feel like my back is going to break in half over every bump. The Dejontool intake pipe fits the stock airbox nicely, thought it was a huge pain to install. Helix catch can is sorta just zip tied to the battery tie right now, sorry no pics (it really looks bad.)

My Cusco OS-T front strut bar came in today. I had some store credit at a local shop to use so I figured I might as well get something for under the hood that looks good.

Since I needed new tires again, I decided to get new wheels as well. (I got 24,000 miles out of the ES100s.) I chose the 5Zigen FN01R-C in a 17x9 so that I could add a 255 wide tire instead of the stock 235. The tires I picked up are the Bridgestone Potenza RE750. Also, I swapped out my front brake pads to match the rears, Project Mu B-Force.

This week, I had a new clutch installed. I went with the RRE X-clutch, which has a 3000 pound pressure plate, and the street disc. (The stock EVO clutch has a 2200 pound PP.) I also picked up a light weight steel flywheel and a stainless steel clutch line.

I ordered some new mods a few weeks ago and finally installed them. I picked up the Lancershop brass "underhood" shifter bushings, Energy Suspension polyurethane shifter base bushings and a GReddy superlight shift knob. So far I like the stiff shifter feel. It's nice and tight, like a bolt action rifle. The shifter knob is all right. I think I might end up getting a Momo one later though.

I finally got myself a SAFC-II this week and took the time to install it this afternoon. I also picked up a Fields harness so that I didn't have to splice into the factory ECU wiring. I used some basic(safe) settings from a friend who has an EVO with the same mods as me. Hopefully soon I can borrow a datalogger or wideband so I can do some fine tuning.

Well, my rear brake pads crapped out this week. They were down to the squealers, so I got some new rear pads. I went with the Project Mu B-Force pad, since the place I went for pads was out of the Ferodo DS2500 pads.

I added more mods this week:
Helix 3" downpipe
Ultimate Racing 3" High flow Cat
Turbo XS MBC

My bank account is pretty dry now, so no more mods for a while. :)

I decided to ditch the Autometer boost gauge I had before and opted for some nicer GReddy gauges. I went with the electronic 60mm white gauges, boost and EGT, with memory and warning features. All I can say is, these gauges ROCK!

Also this week I got my windows tinted. I wish I had done it when I first got the car over a year ago. My EVO has 20% tint all the way around now.

I swapped brake pads this week back to my Ferodo DS2500 pads. They seem to bite a bit better than the EBC pads, although they do dust more.

3/21/04
Added a JIC Stainless Steel exhaust to my EVO this week. My impressions on the exhaust:
It is a little too loud, as if an EVO doesn't already get enough attention. I did notice a bit more power on the top end, and it feels like the turbo spools a bit faster.

1G DSM BOV added today as well. My intentions of swapping out to this BOV was not to gain any performance. I was simply trying to rid my car of the cheap crappy plastic BOV with a metal one. ;-)

Added to my EVO this week is a set of DBA slotted front rotors and EBC "Greenstuff" front brake pads. My car suffered from the "warped rotor" syndrome that is synonymous with EVOs. I replaced the rotors and brake pads around 4,000 miles ago and everything is smooth as ever so far!

I burned through the stock Yokohama Advan A-046 tires pretty quick (15,500 miles). I decided to go with the cheaper Yokohama AVS ES100 tire since my car is just a daily driver. These tires SUCK compared to the stockers though. But hopefully I'll get more than 15,000 miles out of them.
