Battery Installation & Electrical System Upgrades:

sickcamry's 2001 Toyota CamryI began by unbolting the plastic strap holding the factory battery in place. I then unbolted the negative and positive terminal connectors and removed the factory battery from the vehicle.

sickcamry's 2001 Toyota CamryThe OPTIMA Blue Top was then secured into place. The factory terminal connectors were removed and gold plated ring terminals were installed. I had to lengthen the factory wires due to the new battery's terminal posts being reversed (I soldered and shrink wrapped all of my connections). I then covered the wires in loom tubing and secured them with zip ties.

sickcamry's 2001 Toyota CamryNext was the electrical system upgrades, or as some call it, the "big three" wires. I started with the alternator post to positive battery terminal upgrade. I used 1 gauge wire and 0 gauge gold plated ring terminals, crimped using a Phoenix Gold impact crimper. I then wrapped the wire in 3/4" loom tubing and zip tied it together.

sickcamry's 2001 Toyota CamryI found a bolt close to the battery that was connected directly to the vehicle chassis. I unscrewed the bolt and scraped the paint away to expose the bare metal. I cleaned the surface with acetone and used this point for my negative battery terminal to chassis upgrade.

sickcamry's 2001 Toyota CamryLast was the engine block to negative battery terminal. I found a bolt connected directly to the engine block. Again, I removed the bolt and cleaned the surface with acetone. The wire was then secured into place.

sickcamry's 2001 Toyota CamryThis is the battery after completion. Note how all wires were wrapped with loom tubing to protect them from the extreme heat, and zip tied to prevent them from shifting.

Nice, very very nice. I love seeing clean Dynamat installs, very impressive.

Nice install. I can always appreciate a DIY system which obviously has a lot of though put into it. I bet it sounds as good as it looks.

Sweet looking Camry. I did the same thing on my Camry with the Dynamat, but used Paintable Spray on Rubberized Undercoating that you can get at any Autozone of Checker Auto Parts. That stuff worked just like the Stinger Spray on S.D. and when it dried it was not sticky at all. It was only $3 a can and covers a lot of area. Check it out sometime. It also didn't have any fumes after the first 24-48 hours either. Anyways, I love the ideas that you've put into your Camry. Keep up the wonderful work. I hope to see some install pics soon. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

GrandMasta, excellent choice of car, the Camry is so quiet and smooth stock...nice work on sound deadening (I may have to borrow some of your ideas with carpet foam) and thanks for your advice on SD.
