I purchased the z just outside of Seattle. The car looked to have come from one of the more arid states for the original floor pans are in good shape - most of the rust has been due to debris getting caught in the quarter recesses and due to poorly done bodywork.
At some point around 2002 the car was struck a glancing blow to the side and it suffered a bent rear suspension and half shaft as well as quarter and door damage - beyond that there wasn't any structural damage. The door had to be replaced as did the rear quarter panel. The driver’s side rear quarter, along with parts of all quarter panels, have been replaced and an outlet has been welded in to allow access for the 2 1/2" side exhaust.
At the moment I'm waiting for the T5 to be rebuilt and then car will go for painting - GM (God-awful Management) Cyber Grey.
I was planning on putting a VQ engine in it but found it was a bit too involved but as it turns out it may have been simpler - still going to have lots of torque though, should be fun...
