"SVP"

Valor_Incs 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

This is my newest project; otherwise known as the Salvage Vehicle Project.  This was aquired through an insurance salvage auction and as you can see it has been hit on the side.  I'll get some tear down pics soon but for now I've just got the salvage yard ones.  The intent is to rebuild it with some show quality upgrades.

First will be the repairs to get her road worthy (safety-wise).  Although the fenders aren't damaged I want a newer look so they'll be modified.  I'm likely going to rent a new Silverado and make a copies of the fender flares.  Not the actual fender flares but the large ones that are part of the actual body.  An example is the matte red one from SEMA 08' (crazy lifted) below.  As you can see they've (Bigfoot 4x4 Inc.) extended the stock flares just as I intend too.

I'm going to convert the front to the 07'+ Tahoe headlights I have left from an old project.  Then cut, size, and modify a Range Rover front bumper I've had for awhile too.  Likely going to build a reverse open fiberglass hood with the grille molded to make it all come together.  I'm thinking an RBP grille or something close to it like the black one below.  Not sure what the plan for the rear bumper is but I'm think a tire mount similar to a Jeep.  I'm sure there will be a few here and there mods but this gets you the overall picture.

Once the body is finished I'll look toward paint.  I don't feel a complete repaint or color change would be in my favor so I'm thinking of a two-tone paint.  Essentially the lower half of the truck will either be a black or the top half.  I'll mess with photoshop later to decide which I prefer... maybe ever set up a poll for it on here to get your thoughts.  Added an example of the paint I'm thinking of, just replace the white with the current green and the red stripe with white.

Finally I'll probably add a 3-inch body lift.  It's a big truck and I don't expect to be off road past dirt roads for camping and such.  Essentially I just want more wheel clearance.  The custom fender will open it up some too.  Considering 35-38" tires preferred on 20" wheels.  That may just come down to what is cheap on craigslist though, haha.  Undecided about a full roof rack but leaning towards getting one.

So, if you've read this far you might be wondering why bother with so much work on a salvage truck, or something this old, or with this much mileage, ect.  One, it's fun.  Two, maybe use it at a couple shows before I part with her and get the next project.  Three, I'm trying to get it onto Speed Channel for a new show they have for Copart.com.

So, thanks for any comments and ratings.
