Wouldn't you know I could not help myself.
When I saw this 1972 XJ6 come up on Craigslist for a mere 200 bucks with a very nice interior, I just had to buy it. Seats alone are worth more than that! This guy had great intentions until he found out the crankshaft on his Chevy 350 conversion had a big hunk missing from behind the harmonic balancer. Looks like someone beat it with a hammer. Not a recommended procedure for removing it. He then decided he would "customize" the dash. He proceeded to remove it. He just cut complete harnesses instead of taking the time to disconnect them. He also kept the hood off and let the elements decide the fate of his partially disassembled motor. It did look pretty grim, even for 200 bucks.
To date, I have fixed one rear door that would not open, started a new dash from a 5 foot length of nice hard wood that I will later stain, yanked out the old 350 and started building a 1970 Chevy 350 4-bolt 255 hp motor (should be a little over 300 hp when I finish it) and am currently repairing the original harness. I also have been removing and repairing all of the electric window assemblies. They are a consistent problem with these older Jags. Usually a lot of binding in the window lever mechanism due to rust.

I put the hood on and took a little time to clean it up after the couple of years of outside abuse. Paint still shines with a little work and all the chrome looks good. I found a complely new exhaust system under the solid floor pans. Great score!
Today (10/7/09) I put the motor I had picked up back together. It's running a CompCam (480 lift), True Roller gear set, 650 Holley Spreadbore double pumper, Weiand Intake and some custom headers. I'll beef up the spark later.
