You've come a long way baby!!
Just my little MJ, its seen better days... I got the truk for free, With it I also got a Cherokee for parts(motor bad at 239k) which was used for the axles, driveshaft yoke, front headerpanel, hood, and some other odds and ends. I have the rebuildable motor, good trans and transfer case too!! My dash came from a 91 laraedo with only 101k, it was PERFECT!! Doors from a 98 cherokee(cash 4 clunkers living on). I also have a Ford/Bosch inline fuel pump to replace the not so reliable Jeep AMC unit... The entire undercarriage and engine compartment recived a nice coating of black paint, rusted floor fixed, fit a Cherokee style rearend springs shocks and brakes, 2" lift up front, havent measured rear but its like 3-4" up, 265 70r15's on stock Jeep spoke wheels, newer style radiator without the ugly water tank, and I'll be fitting a set of steps with bed steps(4door steps on a 2 door truk...) and Brush Guard!!
It has the 4.0 I6, 5 spd Manual, 4x4. 167k on the odometer. Its a replacement engine and the transfer case is new. However... The front axle was broken, driveshafts too, rearend was iffy, only the hard lines good on the brakes, broken windows, rusted floor, trashed inside and out with a fugly paintjob (dumbasses didnt use primer) and 3 tires that didnt hold air (the rears would go flat in like half an hour)
As you can see, its in mint condition... Aside from the dead paint, busted grill, slimey engine, rediculous seat, rusted floor, and the dumsterload of junk in the bed, its in mint condition...

So began the adventure... 10 days in, the front headerpanel and rad gone, all of the interior and dash gone, bed and inside cleaned, some paint work under fenders, rust holes in the floor fixed.

Swaping the Axles and Cleaning and Paintng the undercarriage.
July 09
The truck was untouched in august and september, due to title complications and getting a new job. In that period the cherokee was stripped and sold as scrap
The engine, trans, and transfer case are bigger than I am. I dropped it out from the car by MYSELF!!!!
Stage one: strip the engine and engine compartment, spray engine with degreaser. Apply liberal amount of elbow grease.........
Stage two: Remove the grease and slime from the engine and surrounding areas. numerous cleaning methods involved...

Stage Three: Apply flat black engine paint, I have another valve cover, and the oil pan will be coming off soon.
Stage four: Dissasemble any remaining engine compartment/wiring components. Completly clean, degrease, and remove and loose paint. Prep for paint.
Stange Five: Coat with 3-4 coats of Chassis Black paint for an engine compartment makeover...
LOL
Most of the hard bullshit is done: Axles, Chassis Paint, Cleaning, Rust Repair, and all dat fun stuff!!

Well, it moved... on a trailer... I had to move it to venice so I could actually finish it, the ride I was driving was getting Repoed and This one was 50 miles away... Now its 200ft from my work!! I stuck the doors on to move, and I'm now straightening the fenders. I picked up a 91 Laredo Cherokee dash, A/C and all that fun suff with only 101,777.0 miles!! Cash 4 Clunkers, but they usually have lots of nice parts. I looking to get a set of 97-99 cherokee doors and some nice seats. To get it driving I just mostly need tires.

Mirror from an 03 TJ, it has the teperature and direction. It'll be kinda different, but Kool!!

101k miles, and it just looks so much better than the old one without a tach...

I'm now among the forces of "The Driving" hehe
I drove the beast for the first time, 5 months(kinda on an inbetween date of when the van broke and I aquired this) and countless hours of work... But I drove it around where my shop. AND, it made the first of I know will be many trips to the part store!!

A litte updated look, he's got his fenders on!! Like my "window", a piece of carpet that I use for crawling under the truck and as a seat... lol
I got a set of tyres (Definity Dakota H/T 265 70r15) a tad bigger that I was going to get, but for the $200 price tag and the letters are still blue, I couldnt pass it up :) I also got a pair of 98 Cherokee doors (manual windows and locks with power mirrors) so with a back window (who knows a good glass shop?) I can actually put my interoir back together!

Story behind the doors, my 88 doors are trash: a broken mirrior, broken windows, broken window hardware, rotten door panels, no keys, and a broken drivers striker mount on the B pillar. I had another set of doors on the cherokee, kinda rusty, but the window motors were burnt. The truk had solid wings (I dont like opening wings, they're too easy to break into) but they make the window too small. Solution... 97+ cherokee has a full window, not to mention the panels are SOOOOOOO much nicer, and they bolt on with a slight mod to teh striker. Geee, bummer, I'll have to get teh welder out!! I started yet another job, and in the first week I could get my doors! 98 cherokee (10 years newer) and they're really nice, the drivers panel is starting to loosen up and I need to get lock cylinders I have a key to, but for $99 who cares, Only thing is I forgot to take a pic...
