This is my newest addition to the collection of junk i call cars, a 1977 olds cutlass, aka banana boat, i traded my 85 t bird for this car, the bird had some stange electrical problem that no one could figure out, not even 2 ford tecknissions. this car aint the greatest right now, it has a bad transmission, not to much to worry about, has a th350, and olds rocket 350, a/c and tilt are the only options it has, and dont worry, its not as dirty as the pictures show, i did some cleaning, also got my hands on some of those nice olds wheels that these came with new, no pics yet, the car is being stored at a farm far away from me, so i can only work on it the odd weekend, but last weekend i made some good progress, fixed the reverse light cover, (super glue) and the leak on the window (black tape) and got new wheels and tires on it, gonna be getting the trans rebuilt as soon as i can afford it, but o well tho, i have allways loved the big cutlasses, and this is the last year before they were downsized. ohh, and o know my location says medicine hat sk, it wont let me change to alberta

Sweet car. You'll have to bring it to the Oldsmobile in Olds Alberta in 2010. You should check out www.oldsnorthernlights.com

Luckily for me my boyfriend works at a dealership and we can lift her up and do it ourselves. Gotta check the exhaust anyway... it really needs a cut-out. Straight-piped is nice but not all the time.

The noise is coming right at the flywheel, that's where it sounds like anyway. Flywheel would make sense.

It's a 5 speed. Sometimes if I come to a complete stop or if I finish backing up and go forwards prgressively it does. If I turn the car off and leave it in gear I can hear clicking.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Our cars aren't exactly great for wires, and usually when we go searching for them we find other major things. I have this sound on my driver side rear fender when I turn corners, it sounds like the tire is rubbing against the metal but there's no wear on the tire? I don't know what that's all about.. and also, when I stop sometimes the transmission, I think, gives a huge clunk. Now that is something I'm really worried about because A) I don't want to have to get a nice new tranny and B) I don't want to overshoot this and a wheel falls off. Do you have any ideas on what these noises could be?
