Well, here is my new project.. A Birch White 1998 Subaru Legacy L! AWD of-coarse!
This is after I first bought the car, and cleaned, waxed, scrubbed, vacuumed, and waxed again.. The front has a little bit of damage where it looks like someone put it though a minor fender bender, but other than that, the body is actually in very good shape, with only a few small dings and scratches..
I fixed the bad ground that was causing the car to wig out, and also replaced the back knock sensor, and now she runs perfect. Mechanically, there is not a single thing wrong with her.
My previous project (1987 Heap Prelude 2.0Si) turned out to be more work than it was worth, so I scrapped that project and sold it to a friend for $200.. Anyway..
This is my 1998 Subaru Legacy L.. I bought this car from a good friend of mine who couldn't figure out what was wrong with it.. So... he asked $800 for it, and I gladly handed over the cash..
I used to have one of these about 6 years ago, except it was the GT Limited, but unfortunately due to the motor being the 2.5 DOHC, it had head gasket issue's. Plus I was still making payments on the god forsaken thing, so my dream of swapping in a jdm spec, twin turbo, legacy motor and tranny, was just a far fetched reality.. especially considering that I was only making about 10 bucks an hour at the time.
Eventually, ( being a 24 year old speed freak with a battleship anchor for a foot) I ran the motor and drive-train straight into the ground and gave the car back to the bank.. THE end
With factory GT rocker Panels and painted Brake Calipers.. still nee to order fog light kit, and get Front bumper cover refinished..

I'm getting my side skirts and rear bumper lip back from the paint shop Monday.. YAY!!!..

Here are some photo's of my new GT interior ... its not leater, but it will do for now..

this is after I installed the rear trunk from a 98 GT and had the dorr windows tinted.. just the back glass left to do..
Below, are some photo's when I was in the middle of getting the side trim, mirror's and door handles painted..

So first things first.. Appearance! I had to scrap the under sized 14" wheels and tires that I got with it.. Although the tires were brand new, I so happened to locate a used set of gt Limited 18 spoke wheels at a wrecking yard for $300 for the set... much better! They're not what I plan on permanently having on, but I figure that I can make them my winter set, for keeping my studded snows on. ( not that this car needs snows to get around).
So far, adding the wheels, K&N Filter, tweeter kit from the GT, and installing my Pioneer deck and Alpine type R 10's, are about the only upgrades that I've done to her.. I'm picking up the woodgrain trip package on Monday, and going to be installing that, along with my infinity door speakers next week sometime..
My up coming goals are to order the stock GT side skirts, and then get the front bumper cover repaired and ready for paint.. I'm going to be painting the mirrors, door handles, and ground effects the same color as the rest of the car, and then getting the windows tinted. After all of that is done.. I'm saving up for a better motor.. not sure what I'm gonna use yet.. I've always wanted the Twin Turbo Legacy motor, but Maybe I'll just go with a WRX swap or something.. but either way, I'm gonna need the front clip.. I have to also have the drive-train to go with the power.. and I'm sure as hell not keeping it a an Automatic..
Here's the stock EJ22...
just picked up my snowboard racks, still waiting on the towers
the two 10s fit nicely in the trunk, and there's still room for my decks..
