jamiek111's 1967 Ford Mustang

The idea with building this car was to:

  • Have fun
  • Combine classic 60's looks with modern performance
  • Improve my skills from bolting on parts to real fabrication
  • Use skill instead of cash wherever possible

The basic process was:

  • Buy a 1967 Mustang with a dying 6-cylinder motor off Craigslist, net $1140
  • Pull the v8 engine, 5 speed, computer, fuel injection, etc out of my modified '89 Mustang 5.0
  • Modify the rear-end from a 1992 Lincoln LSC
  • Bolt/wire/weld it all together
  • Start driving it, and add relatively cheap improvements as I went
  • The web, Car Craft magazine, Mustang Steve and Craiglist were a huge help.

    Modifications:

The biggest modification is the engine, transmission, fuel injection, but I don't have pictures of that handy.

Here's some of the other stuff I did, with the approximate cost of some items in case people want to do the same...

Thanks Brian. I used a plain old T5 I pulled from a Fox mustang. I bought a T5 cross member from Modern Driveline and a clutch cable conversion from Mustang Steve. It worked out really great. I use a 2000 Mustang V6 master cylinder which is good for 2 wheel disks. It has a 1" bore. I also use a Fox power brake booster using a template, also from Mustang Steve, just because I had one laying around. You don't need that to use this MC. I also run an adjustable proportioning valve. Awesome car by the way. I'm building a 351 stroked to 408, and am asking myself why I didn't build a 460 stroked to whatever :)

Nice Stang! What 5 speed did you use and did you buy an install kit or what? What master cylinder did you end up using and what is it's bore and stroke? Cheers, Brian '67 stang, 4 wheel disc, 472ci.
