My father built this car in the mid 80's. It had a 355, double hump heads, 292/.488 lift cam, th350 with a 3000 stall, it is backhaved (tubbed) 12bolt rear end with 4.56 gears. The best pass from back then is a 7.54. Later a .640 roller cam was added but never went any faster. Cam is too big for the heads but it sounds good with open headers!

It has sat for about 12 years. 2years ago he pulled the engine and made into a 383, 2.02/1.60 valves in the heads. And it has sat ever since. It once had a engine similar to this and it ran 7.18.

About a month ago I went and picked it up. I wanted to clean it up and get running again.

Pulled engine and trans for a clean and repaint. Transmission was in bad shape and didn't have 3rd gear(drive) and reverse was very soft. So in went another trans. The flexplate also had a tooth knocked off of it was that was replaced and a new mini starter added. Along with a new billet roller timing set, carb gaskets. Rewired electric fan with a 30 amp relay and it blows about 3 times as hard.  The front tires are rotted, driving it around the block is about as far as I would push them!  The car now moves again on it's own power!

The car still needs the 12 bolt gone through. The gears have always made bad sounds! New gears and all new bearings are a must! It has a long way to go!
