I bought my first 240Z, also my first project car, in 2007. Since 2006, I had been looking for a Porsche 944 and I got very close to getting an '86 in decent condition. I guess fate played a part in it because after not finding any decent 944s in my price range and expanding my search to other rear-drive sports cars I got really interested in Z-cars. I made it (semi) drivable and took it for a few runs in 2008 in the Bay Area: highway 35, 84, 1, Pescadero Road, Canada Road, you get the picture. After not being satisfied with engine performance and rust I decided to tear her down.
The L24 that was in the car was stock but not the original engine. It did have an E31 head, which was nice to have. It also came with a late 280ZX 5-speed but without the differential swap. I have a 3.9 ratio R200 which will be used instead of the original 3.36 R180. The black slotted mags were purchased seperately and I think they look really nice with the rim black and the lip left unpainted. They look a lot better than the 280Z wheels and wheel covers that came with the car. If you notice in the photo, I am missing a front valence although it's hard to see. I installed a Xenon air dam with brake ducts after the picture was taken, and it gave the car a more aggressive look. I can't wait to have a drivable Z again!
