09-23-09: Some further along Pics. Front end off and engine & tranny out of the car, interior stripped out, doors, trunk lid, gas tank removed, body mounts all undone. Tranny rebuild and shift kits ordered. Anyone got a good idea on taking a t-top body off the car without tweaking it??
Recently got into these 79 Hurst Olds cars and ended up picking up three of them. Only 2499 were made in 1979 in either black & gold or white & gold paint schemes. All three of mine are in white & gold. Two are the rarer T-Top optioned cars with only 537 made. I'm currently in a ground up resto of one of the cars which wasn't a runner when I bought her, but had the original drivetrain and more importantly NO RUST except some surface stuff! Actually all three are pretty much rust free cars which makes life a whole lot easier :-) Currently got the car stripped down farther than these pics with the front end completely off and am about to take the body off the frame. Updates to come (09-2009).
