I bought the car from a junkyard while getting some leaf springs for my F-100. It was sitting out front with $700 written on it. After I realized it was a 200sx instead of a Pulsar I took it for a drive and it was perfect. Has only 75k miles and was brought in by the original owner.
Once I got it home there was a bit more rust on the fenders than I originally thought so I put a new one on the drivers side and took it to my friend who does body work to get a full repaint done. I also got some Canuck Motorsport springs and GR2 struts (rear from Foxbody Mustang, front are the inserts for the rear of a '93 MR2). Total lowering should be around 2". I'm using some 15x6" gold mesh rims from the '80s for right now until I can afford some 16x8 +8's with track tires :D
After debating which engine to put into it (the stock CA20e is NOT GOOD) I found a SR20det in an S13 with a ton of parts for $1000. It included coilovers, BOV, FMIC, piping, turbo timer, boost gauge, manual boost controller and all of the engine/trans/wiring.
Took the S13 apart in record time and started getting prepared to put it in the S12 (new turbo gaskets, had to change the bellhousing to use the S12 transmission, remove lower harness, etc).
The best part was trying to cram the SR into the S12. It's a super tight fit against the firewall.... and in the process I tore the heater core hose that goes along the back of the SR's head...
Put in a Walbro 255 to handle the new engine
I got the exhaust custom 3" turbo back to a straight through 3" Vibrant Flat Black, no cat because pre '88's don't need emissions control where I live :)
FMIC is going in this weekend with the piping all sprayed flatblack.
I'll keep updating with pictures as the build continues.
