DixieCoyotes 1972 Ford Torino

Hey there. My name's Jessica. I'm 20, and I'm currently residing in Gulf Shores, Alabama. This is my "new" car, a 1972 Ford Torino sedan. I fell in love with this forgotten tank of a four door the moment I saw it, and had it payed for and on a trailer home August 29th, 09. It's my first dabbling in classic cars, and my second car to date. A definate learning experience, but one I'm going to thoroughly enjoy every second of. Wish me luck!

Love those body lines! The dents and rust rot? Not so much. But it's nothing that can't be fixed.

The rims and tires currently on the car. Not my taste, so they will be replaced.

My current plans for the exterior lead me to want to reupholster and overhaul the interior, but I may keep it the way it is. We'll see. Not much damage to anything but the seats and the floor. Overall, in amazing shape for being 37 years old.

A..HA! So THAT'S how you open it.

302 Windsor, two barrel carb. Despite the crud and rust, it runs and sounds as strong as ever. A new master cylinder, rear axle seals, some break work, and a minor tune up and fluid changes got this tank on the road.  It is an absolute blast to drive, and even stopping at the gas station is an adventure. Driven around a bit after I bought it, but currently out of commission with a damaged flywheel.

Congrats on your new Torino! You have just joined a very exclusive club. Seriously, if you need any advice, I've been keeping mine running for over 30 years now, so I'm very familiar with this car. You might want to start by upgrading the ignition to electronic if it still has points. Pertronixs makes a decent ignition for not a lot of money. Curious why your air cleaner isn't painted Ford blue. BTW, you are lucky your grille is in good shape, those are almost always broken since they are made of plastic and 37 years old.

Awesome Torino. And I like the ribbed rims. Just lose the whitewalls.
