To start the page off, here are a few pics of the car before I took the motor out. The car is in decent shape. After I get under the hood taken care of, I will get the body looking good.

When I bought the car it started heating pretty bad and I noticed there was oil in the coolant. I hauled off the head to change the head gasket and to my surprise, 4 of the head bolts were loose and I took them out with my fingers. Turns out, the block was stripped. I was only planning on driving the car for a couple more weeks before I started ripping it apart anyways, so it wasnt too bad.

So, I hauled out the rest of the motor and tranny. It must have been leaking oil for a long time before I got it because the engine bay
was well lubed lol. A few hours took care off it pretty good though.

So, I knew I was going to turbo the car but I couldnt decide what engine to use. I was thinking about using a stock b18b and bolting on a basic turbo kit just to get it mobile again. Then I found a deal on a b18b block that came with a set of srp pistons and eagle rods. Nothing was put together yet and the block was already bore out to 81.5mm (pistons were 81.5mm too).

So my plans were to just use my old b18b head on the new block I purchased, but I came across a good deal on a gsr head.

I never liked the gsr intake manifolds for some reason so I pick up a skunk2 pro series manifold. It should flow allot better than the stock one.

So then I took my block to a machine shop to get it assembled. I never put a crank in before so I figured I would leave it to a professional. they polished my crank and ordered all new bearings and rings. The pistons were used but still looked new. They must have only been in the motor for a little while.

Now here is where I got confused. My pistons are 10:1 compression pistons. and with the gsr head on that block it would be even higher. (I calculated around 10.5:1). So I did some research but couldnt find much information or any straight answers. I know I can use a thicker head gasket to lower the compression. I had to get a custom gasket from cometic made for an lsvtec that is .074" thick. This should bring me close to 9:1.
(I dont know much about compression and im not even sure if I am remotely close to being right. Any help in this area would be awesome)

I had my plans for the motor now, and I wanted to push around 420whp on pump gas. It will be drivin on the street allot and at the track on weekends. This was a budget build so I was buying most of my parts used or looking for good deals.
I picked up some ARP Headstuds. I needed to used the gsr head studs for the lsvtec.

AEM 5.2 bar map sensor. a stock honda map sensor is only good for 11 psi (around there somewhere I can remember exactly but i know stock is not enough for me haha.)

1000cc Precision injectors. I went bigger then I needed because on my last turbo car I bought 3 sets becuase I never bought them big enough.

I picked up this big intercooler from a local guy. He ran over 530whp@27psi on it and it held up.

Competition stage 5 clutch kit

Golden Eagle lsvtec conversion kit

38mm Tial wastegate

blitz bov

In this pic, you can see the 3" kteller exhaust and custom 3" downpipe.

The turbo is a garrett 60-1. It has a stage 5 cw
.63 hot
.70cold
I think it should meet my goal no problem

on my last car I tried to keep the engine bay clean but it would always leak oil out of the cam seal like most b searies motors seem to do, so I bought the aftermarket cam seal to keep things clean and dry.

The turbo manifold I dont have a good pic of yet. Its a custom made manifold that I bought from a guy on honda-tech. I dont have much info on it but its pretty beefy.

I had a set of 24.5x8x13 M/T slicks that I bought for my old turbo civic, I just need to buy a set of rims to put them on now. There is still a few seasons left in them for me.

Right now, since I live in Canada, its getting pretty cold and its time to park the car winter anyways. I decided not to rush it together right now. Im going to clean everything up over the winter and pick up some more parts I never got around to getting yet.
I like the polished look under the hood, so I started polishing the valve cover. I still have allot of work to do on it but its starting to shine a bit.

I cleaned up my power stearing pump and painted my brackets gold. (have to have a little rice haha)

I also painted my fuel rail and spark plug cover. I didnt know if I would like it but I think I will. Im not going to go crazy and paint everything but a few little things should make it look good imo.

The head itself was caked full of oil too so I cleaned up the head and tapped it for the plug (for the lsvtec kit)

I have to position the turbo this way on the manifold because it hits the block when I turn it the other way. Which means I will have to do some cutting and welding to the downpipe to make it work on the other side. I had to do this on my civic too which sucks. I might pick up a 4 bolt to vband connector to make thing a little easier for lining up to the exhaust.

Here is a pick of the exhaust and downpipe. I picked up a 3" flex pipe to put in there somwhere too.

I repainted my torque mounts black. I ordered some energy suspension motor mount inserts from a local shop. They should be tomorrow.

Here is my mess of a wiring harness. Still has oil caked on it from being on the old motor haha. I will get around to leaning it before to long.

When I bought the turbo and manifold I didn't get a gasket for it so I ordered one from good old ebay.

I got my b18 flywheel resurfaced. I was going to get a light weight one but some people seem to have better luck with the stock one.

Parts are starting to add up. I don't need to much more before I start putting things together. I have to get my oil pan off my old motor and tap it. I need to get some more ic pipping too because I don't have enough. I just have whatever was left over from my last car.

Mean Green works really good for getting off grease.

I picked up these Engery Suspension motor mount inserts to help stiffin things up. Took a while getting them because they were put on back order for a few weeks first :S

I also bought this fast flow -8an fitting. When I got home and though it over I took it back and got them to order me a -10 for better flow.

I bought this AEM Wideband for a good deal. Should do the trick to keep an eye on my Air Fuel ratio.

I got these AEM Tru ajustable cam gears to help squeak out some extra hp. When you use a thick head gasket, it will through the angle of the cams off a bit, so these should help me out. They look a bit pink in the pics but they are red haha.

Im just using the LS tranny for now. I though I would clean it up a bit thought since it was full of old oil.

After

Arp head studs installed in the block.

Head bolted on and torqued to spec

Golden Eagle sandwich plate installed to oil my head.

Im using an OEM honda timing belt from a integra gsr

I bought this Type R lip. It was broke in two when I got it so I used a plastic weld kit to fix it. worked pretty good.

So that about sums it up for now. Thats what I have. I hope to have the car running and tuned by April 1st (2010). My power goal is 420whp+ on pump gas or to run a 11.49 or faster. As far as engine managment goes, it will be tuned on ectune. I will be getting a walbro 255 fuel pump too.
I will keep you updated as I get more done. Dont forget to rate :)
