 hiro8kamakura's 1979 International Scout II

Hi there!  My name is Hiro.

I'm the owner of 1979 International ScoutII SS2 The Midas Edition.

I met this Scout coincidentally when I went to an auto shop specialized in 4x4 as an editor of American car magazine in Japan.

When I first saw it, I got stunned by the look that I have never seen.  Then I learned that this once had been on an article of American 4x4 magazine before and had been on sale.

Here is the address of off-road magazine:

http://www.off-roadweb.com/features/0201or_1979_international_scout_ii/photo_10.html

So I have just bought it from American owner.

Then I had modified spark plugs with NGK platinum, plug cables with SplitFire 8.8mm, and ignition coil with Mallory.

Since this is very old car, there are lots of oil leaks and gas leak from fuel pump somewhat.

Being different climate from America, I have hard time starting the engine in the Japanese humid climate between April to August.

Maybe there are some other reasons that the engine won't start well.  I guess, something is wrong with the float in the cab...

Hey Hiro, Nice Scout! I like the shot with Mt Fuji in the back ground. I spent several months at a time in Japan over the past few years working on convertible designs with Nissan. It such a nice truck, I would look into a fuel injection system for your Scout, no more climate issues. They have a new plug and play system in the new Hot Rod Magazine for around $2,000 U.S. Dollars.I think I will add it to my mint green scout next year, and a lift kit. Take care! Go to www.scoutswest.com, the forum there is great for information. What engine/tranny combo? What carb? Keep in mind this is four wheel drive American Muscle :) All in all a great looking rig
