Car History
This is an authentic 1985 Saleen Mustang, one of the 140 built during the first year of production for customers. It came from Dearborn as a GT model with radio and cruise-control delete and was converted by hand in a small tire & brake shop, back before Saleen expanded into full production facilities.
It is one of 25 Jalapena Red cars and one of only a handful with the gold striping and accents. By number 0089, the cars were getting the urathane front airdam as the fiberglass airdam used on the three '84 prototype cars and early '85 conversions were phased out. This car has one of the early "big wing" rear spoilers.
All Saleen specific adornments are still with the car includ ing the Escort radar detector, alarm system, optional upgrade Kenwood stereo & rear spea kers plus the steering wheel, shift knob and gauges all with the Saleen graphics cut & laid by hand.
I am now the fourth owner of the car and it sits now with the original paint, original interior and only 43,000 miles on the odometer. Previous owners have made a few modification common for the 1985 Mustangs (noted above).
And now for some current pics:
