Demon SS is an ex-Illinois Highway Patrol Interceptor (9C1), but since it's a '94, it has been equipped with the Chevy LT1 engine like the legendary Impala SS. My club is the B.A.D. Bodies of Chicago, I'll get a website in my links when a site gets up.
[--PERFORMANCE--]
I know the performance specs are a bit off, but they are pretty good estimations. 6.2 is my best time for 0-60, but it's always around 6.7 or never over 7.0. Lately I've been easing off on pushing my car to his limits but he can still haul if I need him to.
[-- COP MODS --]
The LT1 is the largest engine of the Caprice Reign and has been offered in the 1994 as well as the 1996 Caprice Interceptors. Some of the cops that I have talked to say that they prefer the Chevy's over the Ford's mostly because of the power but most recently, because Caprice's don't explode. The cop mods include the LT1 engine (Non-Police Caprice Classics of the same year have a much smaller V8), cooling systems for all fluids, green life-time gaurantee hoses, dual-exhaust system, stronger suspension and sway bars, a steel reinforced engine cage with an extension used in head-on collisions to destroy the opposing vehicle, a 'manual' cruise control (involves something that locks the pedal to the floor), air-bag deactivator, brighter cabin light, and finally, the working spot-light. All the other stuff was removed and there is an abundance of cabling and wires under the seats, setting up a nice sound system would be pretty easy in this car. Two years ago (2001), I purchased Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's (P225/70R15 100SR) tires. They've been working very well but since my car's alignment is horrible, they're about to need replacement.

[-- MY MODS --]
The only major thing I have done to the car besides repairs is replace the radio. The old one didn't even have a tape player but I could adjust the treble...and that's it. I got the Sony MP3 receiver for starters, but the stock speakers are surprisingly good so I haven't added anything else in the sound department. I use either Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5w30 or Mobil 1 Higher Mileage Engine 10w30. I've added a K&N Air Filter and that's shown barely any acceleration improvements but my gas mileage has increased by two MPG. I usually get 16-17 but now it's around 19-20 which I think is incredible. Now if I were crazy and had money to burn, this is what I'd add:
- Kenwood speakers
- Replace upholstry
- Racing seats
- Tachometer
- Lowering springs
- Replace the gas shocks
- Give it 18" or 19" performance rims, NO chrome 22's on my car :)
- Exhaust mod, I'm thinking Borla T-304 Stainless
- Repaint the car pure white
- Extensive engine work to restore it
- Supercharger...maybe
- Rebuilt or new racing transmission
- Rams on the front, maybe some fog lamps including an upgrade to an HID system
Yeah, if only I had the money. Hehe, especially for that Borla exhaust upgrade: $985.99!! Seriously though, I'm looking into powder coating some things to give my car a better all around look. First off I'd have my steel rims sandblasted, polished, then coated in mirror-shine black. I know a great guy that's going to help me get it going, and with the rest of the powder, I'll coat some of the engine parts, give my car an executive look.

[--HISTORY and REPAIRS--]
I call my car Demon because I do believe he truly is one. The rear passenger side wheel just fell off while I was driving. This was just a random occurance, apparently all the bolts were stripped by the Firestone people and that's what caused it but I doubt it. About a year later the exhaust manifold broke and leaked carbon monoxide into the cabin. Since it was quite cold outside, I had the windows up and was in the car about an hour coming home from college. He almost got me there too. Demon tried to kill me again with a cracked heating manifold but I caught it early and opened the windows. It was then I decided to call my car Demon: something powerful and deadly.
When I bought the car, I had distributor problems so that was first to be replaced. After that major repair, the little things started to go, O/P Switch, Battery Cables, Thermostat, Fan Relay, stuff like that. Then when I bought new tires, I was informed that my Upper and Lower control arm bushings were non-existant so I had my mechanic overhaul all the wheels so they could actually be aligned. Since then, my car has given me no trouble except for the digital dashboard and that I developed a small hole in a junction of the exhaust. My dashboard likes to randomly turn off and flash strange numbers at me. This is really scaring me, not because I don't know what speed I'm going but because if it causes a short anywhere, it's going to need to be replaced, and that's not an option. It would cost more than the car's worth to replace that. The hole was repaired so my car is quiet once again.

Here is my dad's 2002 Maxima with two angles. The second shows all three of the cars that I detail weekly, the Olds Van, my Caprice, and the Maxima. If you have any comments on my detailing work, I'd love to know how I can improve. You probably can't see the detail though unless you saw my original pictures. I list the products I use on Page 4.
