Thanks for coming to check out the panel truck. After showing the red Probe at car shows the past year has been frustrating not having a class for newer cars at car shows. The tuners or sport compacts are excluded and when I contacted some of the show hosts sometimes they would add a class for em and be surprised at how well the turn out was for that class. This frustration has lead me back to the classics and I came across this 57 Ford panel truck it just looked evil and menacing so had to have it. Most people refer to it as jeepers creepers.
Here is how it looked when I got it, dirty and neglected.
One of the past owners installed a Nova subframe with a chevy 350 4 bolt main and a 350 turbo trans. Has a Ford 9 inch rear so drive train could only be improved by a big block.
Here's the engine as of now. Cleaned the block and painted it Ford red just because ,added a Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, Chrome valve covers and air intake. New hoses and braided coverings. Just need to tidy up the spark plug wires now. As long as the engine was free of the mounts went ahead and put in some Holley Flowtech headers and Thrush glasspacks. GRRRRRRRRRR!
8-10-09 Spent the weekend stripping the inner fenders down to bare metal priming and painting gloss black and then adding true fire to them. Still have the firewall to do but need to refabricate my battery tray before doing that.
8-11-09 Got tired of starting it with a screwdriver so bought a new ignition for it and as long as the GMC steeringwheel had to come off picked up a cheap Grant wheel. Gives it a nice ratrod look now and doesn't look so mismatched. Also the shifting linkage needed adjustment cause it just wouldn't go into park. Shifts perfect now.
8-15-09 Took the Panel Truck and Probe to the panels first show. People commented and voted for both but not enough to bring home a top 20 I guess.
