And more to come...
I have dreamed of having a Jeep since I was a boy. In my mind, it was the ultimate "Man Vehicle". For some stupid reason, I never got one. In fact, it wasn't until I was 31 that I got my first 4x4. But it was no Jeep! I have been building custom vehicles for over 2 decades. I have owned several minitrucks which were always my favorite. When my Dakote show truck was lifted, I got "the bug" in a big way to stay high off the ground. When I saw the first unlimited Jeeps, I liked the longer wheelbase, but it wasn't until the release of the 4-door in 2007 that I got insanely excited. I had to have one! As I was still building my Mopar truck, I asked Jeep to special order one for me with the Sunburst Orange Pearl color that I had seen on other Mopar vehicles. The declined. At SEMA 2008, sure enough, in the Jeep booth stood a badass JK, in the color I wanted, already lifted, sporting the 1/2 doors and beadlock wheels. I needed a towel! In April of 2009 I went to Germany for the Electronics show, as usual. Before I went, I tasked 2 dealers to find me a JK with 4 doors, manual tranny and in that orange color, but otherwise stripped since I wanted to build it myself. As us custom builder guys always say - real rides are built, not bought! When I got back from Germany, Mike Allen at Jeep had 2 orange jeep waiting for me. A soft top with a auto tranny and a hard top with a manual tranny. I chose the later and have been stoked to drive it everyday on my 1.5-2 hours commute each way to work! I hit a dirt trail almost every day and drive it hard on the weekends! I finally have my dream vehicle. The next dream is to take the wife to Moam, Utah and eventually the Rubicon, but my JK has a long way to go... So, please come back, give me criticism, say hi, invite us for a ride, or just watch as the Jeep advances with more sponsors.
