This used to be my brothers rabbit, he picked it up for 100.00 bucks and was told that the transmission was no good, other then that the body was pretty streight, it also had a spare manual trans in the back of it. My brother went to take a look at it and liked it, gave the girl 100.00 bucks, got in it and it drove like a dream. I had my bachelor party on the weekend of 7-19 and it was overhauling this once stock, white, auto VW rabbit.
We started at 7pm on friday night...dropped the transmission out of the engine bay, dropped all of the suspension and prepped the wheels for paint. We had a hard time getting the tranny and the torque converter away from the engine so it took some time. Me and my brother pulled an all nighter and got it all ready to start up...12 hours later, all we had to do is bolt on the front suspension and the tires...we decided to go ahead and start it, long story short the fly wheels was not put in right, we had to drop the tranny and start all over again!!
After all that we bolted the suspension and the tires on and waited for my buddy Rob to fabricate the exhaust, he also made up a front strut tower bar!
