oi
cut 3 feet off. and cut and bent
back frame work for windows.
cut 1/8 in steel and fabed up 20 gal
gas tank. coverd it up with roll cage.
stock tank in bad location put dents in it
all the time!

rock bars set on angle for max ground clearance.

hand made tire holder. i still need to build my tube doors. thay will be attached to the exo cage to protect my doors.

roof top protection.

front bull bar all tube bent on harbor bender.

snorkel top from hardware store.
race buckets from shucks.

time to back up a wall.

welding blanket i dont want to pit my windows anymore.

the plan is to put 37 9.3 buck shot mudders
i like the narley pizza cuters
narrow =less lift bigger tires
and more pounds per square inch
on the ground

i have 34 9.5 and they
only rubbed once and a while up front. when i was going fast hitting bumps. and thats with the sway bars off. and before i put the 3 inch lift on. so im thinking the 37s in this pic will work well. with the added lift

my bumper was down at the shackle level. but i raised it into a t bumper. and angled it back too keep it as close to the front of the truck as possible.

the tire holder is home made. from some stuff we found on a job site. the tire holder actually slides up with the tire on. so i can access the cargo area. and the gray box on the right. is an inverter outlet for running power tools. or what ever else i need.

this montero has come a long way. it was black stock on 28s.
i dont think ill ever stop building this rig!!

this is where it got tricky. at least for me.
with help from my dad an accomplished welder. we used the top
of the stock tank. and a gas cap from trailer supply. as well as
1/8 inch steel stock. it holds about 20 gallons of high octane fuel.

after the tank was fully welded. we used a liquid tank sealer it seems to work well.

this gas tank cap. vents in and out. and has a hole for a lock

gas tank fab.. if you want to bob a montero.. you have to build or buy a tank. but for the departure angle i wanted. it had to be custom.. fuel cells are costly but custom fuel cells are outrageous.

the gas tank was the only thing that held me back. from cutting this truck down. but my brother came in to the shop. and said just cut it. so i did it. then their was no turning back

cheep 100 buck bender. and the wall of gold always find what you need.

cb is a must no cell phones work where we go.

this is my air tank for on bord air
and my friends toy diff getting tommy locket

this is just one more stack of stuff ive gotten rid of
it opened up some more room and made it alot easier to work behind the dash

when the dash was off. i took the time to pack all of the electrical plugs and fittings with electrical grease. there are a bunch. i took out what i could do with out.
the back bumper is flush with the tires with 34s. with the 37s im geting. thay will stick out the back about an inch and a half.

i have a 3 inch body lift. and the frame is 3 inch tall. so it fit on top. so i can still use my tow hitch. i put rubber between the frame and body and large 1/4 inch plate welded on both sides. plus other welds hold it in place.

i used the sheet mettle from the back half. and spot welded it to the new back frame work. then covered it with bondo hair. then sanded it and rolled on herculiner in 4 layers.

i used the side windows from the back half of the montero for my back windows.

harbor tube notcher.. i grinded a few of the notches but it took way too long

this is a pic of the plate that holds the frames together

these mud flap holders on left. are threaded so i can take them of when i hit the trail.

i was thinking i would put my air tank hear.under the back bumper. but its a bad location. but i will put my other winch here. its less difficult to pull your self back the way you came. most of the time.

the snorkel location worked out great. its hide behind the fender so it cant get ripped off. when i go thru the tite tree sections.

and it only cost 25 bucks

just put a new winch on the rear

and put my tale lights on

got some 4.88 and a air locker from a 92 in the junk yard for 120 dollers

started my skid plates the plan is for it to be fully skid plated

this is a pic that shows a foot of room these are 32s lots of room for larger tires
