My latest drag car: 1966 Buick Special 4 door sedan, powered by 340 cid Oldsmobile.

I bought this thing for $300 november of '08 to keep me from getting bored over the winter. It had a frozen v6 & 2sp automatic. Very basic car, no ps, pb, ac, just carpet, & a radio. I patched a LOT of rust & threw a crappy paint job on it. (nice color, but lots of orange peel, may sand it smooth & try again in the near future)

The motor is a '66 Olds 330 a good freind from high school had in his '66 Cutlass back in '75. The thing always ran like a bat out of hell for what was. It ran 14.02 with he aders, switch pitch turbo 400, & 3.73 12 bolt rear on G60-14 super 60 street tires, with NO internal mods. He had the motor  & a few body parts still in '06 (or thereabouts) He offered me the motor & I said Heck Yeah. I did a basement port job on the #3 heads (still have not cleaned up the cast iron dust, lol) Had 2" intake & 1.625 exhaust valves installed & set the heads up for the Harland Sharp 1.7 rockers, polished the std/std steel crank, had the block bored .063 to 4" standard Speed Pro flat top pistons for a 360 Mopar, a Bullet custom hydraulic flat tappet cam, Pro Gear timing set, Pro Race damper, Melling oil pump & 7 quart pan from Rocket Racing, CSR water pump, Hedman shorty headers w/ Dynowmax 3" muffs, Edelbrock RPM intake, 850 Holley (original corvette carb I've been running for 20 yrs, I wish I would've known what they would be worth before I milled the choke off! lol) & to top it off a Spectre intake system.

The trans is a TH400 built by Jim Petersen Transmissions with a B&M shift kit with a cheap spragless converter that flashes to about 4000 on this setup.

The rear end is a 12 bolt chevy w/4.33 gears on an strange spool w/Moser axles & clip eliminaters, attached with square tube lowers, adjustable uppers & oversize sway bar.

As of Nov 25th 2009, it has been to the track alot with a best performance of 12.11 @ 108, And has a new paint job!.

3200 lbs and 12s with a 340? NICE WORK. What kind of compression are you making with your flattops and ported heads? Has it been on a Dyno before?

how do you like the headman shorty headers? Did you get the ones for a 455, or for a 350?

Way to think outside the box! A 4dr Buick Special with a tweaked Olds 330 under the hood. Congrats on the 12.50 slip! A friend of mine has a '66 Cutlass with a 330/3sp manual. I'm going to have to send him the link to your page. Keep it up!
