Well here it is...the last damn car I'm buying for a really long time!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Truthfully though, I love this car. I've known about it for over a year, but the asking price was too much in my opinion, and we just were'nt in a position to buy something like this. Once my wife found about it though, it was all over. She brought the car to my work to show it to me, and once I saw how clean and seemingly original it was, I just couldnt pass it up. The price had dropped about 5Gs from what they originally wanted, and we are in a better position right now, so we just did it!
Now to clarify, cuz some experts out there will know by these photos, this car IS NOT A Z28!! Someone in the car's past decided it needed to be red with RS stripes and Z28 badges. I dont have anything against clones, but I also dont care to drive around a car that pretends to be something that it's not, so the badges will come off at some point.
Not that this car wouldnt have given a stock Z28 a serious run for it's money back in '68...it's got nicely built small block 350 and doesnt waste time getting where it's going. I dont yet know what gearing it has but it's fairly low, and I'm pretty sure it has a posi in the rear. The Flowmaster exhaust system sounds fantastic, and we've determined that it's got about 270 duration cam and Holley 725 vaccuum secondary induction. Intake is stock but painted to look aluminum. Certainly some cheesey shit has gone on with this car, but it's solid and in great shape, so I cant bitch too much.
Engine bay certainly needs some love, but at least its all there and works OK for the most part. Gonna go very stock/restomod overall.
The interior is the area with the most issues, besides the chassis electrical. I can see a nice wooded steering wheel, dash pad needs trim strip and screwed down, rear seat cover is torn and the whole back seat needs bolted down, many fasteners are non-original, and while functional, just barely. Speedo isnt functional (yet...cable ordered), fuel guage is a no-good liar, and the turn signal indicators are on drugs. No radio, and damn few guages to tell me whats happening. Lots of heat comes through the firewall, so more insulation is needed. Door bushings and pins are shot too. But in contrast to my other projects, these are all minor details.
Some shots of the underside. I didnt take any of these photos...they are all from the internet listing for the car. Here you can see the Flowmaster system and damn little rust or rough treatment. Makes Warrhorse a happy guy.
There probably wont be any major updates on this car for a long time. It is now our cruiser, and while I'll probably restore it someday, for now it's a clean and comfy driver and it can wait till some of my other projects are out of the way. Thanks for looking!!!
