Took possession today. It's been almost 12 years since I sold my 1986 MKI and I'm ready for the challenge. This thing hauls! Red top 4A-GE. APC Intimidator cold-air intake (BFD), aftermarket header, Meg's exhaust tip, and t-bar roof. MB Wheels with 205/40/17 Kumho tires.

Shop-vac'd, pulled seats and steam-cleaned, found an old cigarette butt that was adding to the nasty smell. New vanillaroma air freshener. Starting parts shopping and the restoration has begun. Fully registered and out of back-registration-hell. New power window gear for the driver's side and the window rolls up! Oil change, new plugs, wires, rotor, and cap, still needs some tuning. Ditched the Formuline GT steering wheel (look at the picture - it was bent and broken and someone bolted a piece of metal to it to fix it) for a Grant Challenger but I need a spacer so I don't hit the blinker all the time, and a horn pad. Also cleaned out what had fallen from the previous owner's tree into the engine and passenger compartments. New heater/vent switches, degreased the motor. New vinyl dye on the ashtray and new shifter boot. Found 2 more old cigarette butts in the center console area - smelling better already! Ordered new e-brake cables from Aaron @ Lithia Toyota, and they did the trick, I have a working e-brake, no more wheel chocks!

Gave it a first bath and quick hand wax job. I installed clear front lenses from a 1990 Camry, with amber bulbs.

I need the following, if you have it for sale:

antenna
battery hold-down bracket

Here's the $2.85 I found under the driver's seat after I bought it. But wait, there's more (later). I lost a penny in the ShopVac, I think, so it was really $2.86.

Check out the rags that were used to form some kind of base under the armrest.

Soldered factory radio harness back together, wires were just twisted together, stock stereo just hums. Gave a quick hand wax job and some armor all and she's looking better.

New pic after fixing the e-brake and window switches. New clutch master cylinder. The back 3 windows have been tinted 5% after this pic.

Your project is just about how mine started out :) I have had mine for almost 5 years and truly have enjoyed watching it change, piece by piece as I am sure you will yours as well. I am local to you so if you should need some parts, let me know. Board name on MR2OC is "Confused". Great to see another project under way!
