I've always wanted to own a J-Body Z24. I was able to find one that i could mold into my own. I call this car 2nd Chance for this very reason. I found it on Craigslist for $200.00. This was owned by a younger girl, she had the tow truck scheduled to come get it the next day to hull it off to the salvage yard. I gave her the money for it. This car didn't look like this when i got it in December 08'. She was told that the water pump was out, i pulled the oil dipstick out to check the oil. The chocolate milk foam was all over the dipstick. I informed her that this motor had lost the head gasket. So the search began. I was able to find a 2.4L motor and transmission out of a donor car with 55,XXX miles for $300.00. We did the secrete cam swap also while it was out. I did the engine and transmission swap to make it new again. After the car first turned on and ran, I brought it right back into the shop to lower it 2 inches. To the next chapter, I had some of my friends repaint the car and restore the car to a showroom shine. I went with DuPont paint, BMW/MINI paint color, the color is Chili Red. I had the antenna, and the trunk lock shaved, and all the badges as well. I had them paint the mirrors and the "b" piller also. My friend purchased projector headlights with corners, the projectors were also modded by my friend, changed the lenses out, replaced it with some out of an S2000. He is currently working on some retro fog projectors for me. The rims are also a craiglist purchase, I was able to get them for 250.00. They are 18" Motegi MR7's Graphite in color Wrapped in 225/40/18 Continental Sport Contact 2's. I replace the drums and painted them black to prevent rusting in the future. The windows have been tinted at 20%. The undercarriage has been fully undercoated. Just recently i have painted the windshield wiper arms black and replaced the wiper blades with Bosch Icons. I have replaced the carpet and mats with the OEM graphite color. I have sound deadened with 100 square feet of "Fat Mat" (whole car top to bottom).I've started on the stereo, so far i just installed a Pioneer flip out DVD screen... To b continued.
This Set of pics are the most current as of July 2009. If You continue down the page u'll see the project from start to finish. (No pics of motor swap)
