"Billet" multi-layer word play based on the movie, my friend's '53 Chevy truck nicknamed Bullet, and the idea of components machined from aluminum billet.

Bike rack; the arm that holds the back tire goes into a little receiver like a trailer hitch, so it can be removed easily.

I made the rest from square tubing and some 1/8" steel sheet. I had an old front wheel mount from a Yakima rack, so I adapted that. Barely clears to allow the top to be raised and lowered, and the trunk can be opened fully when the bike isn't on the rack.
Lights!

I made a grille out of cheap expanded steel, with door edge protector to finish around the perimeter.

Two Hella 90mm high beams and two Hella projector fog lights hide behind the grille. I made some plastic discs that cover the lights for protection against rocks and to hide them.

The grille pivots up to reveal the lights. It runs on a headlight door motor I got out of a Toyota Celica at the junkyard.

Those Hellas are pretty bright. I will eventually upgrade them to Silverstar bulbs like the headlights.

I don't have air, and even in the Northwest it gets hot sometimes. The Miata never really seems to pass air through the heater without warming it, so I made this vent for the driver footwell. It really needs a flex tube running from the front of the car to generate more pressure, though.

The control sits just under the hood release.
