-89 FORMULA 1/4 MILE TIMES-

(times in bold)
(bests in italics)

I took my 89 Formula to Kil Kare twice the summer I bought it.

I had two runs the first night, and then two runs the second night. The first night's runs were all as I got the car. The second night's runs were after a tune-up.

1st run solo
08/22/2002 19:29:37
1.226 --Reaction--
2.388 --60ft--
6.925 --330ft--
9.989 --594ft--
10.669 --1/8mile--
66.26 --1/8mph--
16.631 --1/4mile--
82.90 --1/4mph--

2nd run solo w/out air filter (dumb)
1.460 --Reaction--
2.442 --60ft--
6.996 --330ft--
10.059 --594ft--
10.739 --1/8mile--
66.17 --1/8mph--
16.708 --1/4mile--
81.96 --1/4mph--

-Not too impressive, but I knew I my times were suffering from my transmission mount (which was in two peices).

I replaced the following before going back to Kil Kare:
-transmission mount
-put in Modine radiator
-160 degree thermostat
-radiator hoses
-spark plug wires
-rapid-fire plugs
-distributor cap
-distributor rotor
-K&N filter
-oil change and filter

1st run against ???? (something fast)
09/12/2002 20:16:44
1.077 --Reaction-- .700
2.404 --60ft-- 2.096
6.841 --330ft-- 5.450
9.848 --594ft-- 7.680
10.514 --1/8mile-- 8.177
67.46 --1/8mph-- 90.37
16.379 --1/4mile-- 12.511
84.11 --1/4mph-- 114.22

2nd run against 4th gen Trans Am
09/12/2002 21:23:25
.869 --Reaction-- .438 (foul)
2.321 --60ft-- 4.395 (can we say no traction?)
6.776 --330ft-- 8.637
9.792 --594ft-- 11.351
10.461 --1/8mile-- 11.955
67.16 --1/8mph-- 74.59
16.339 --1/4mile-- 17.209
83.99 --1/4mph-- 93.36

A .3 sec drop from simple maintenance. I was pleased with my time. It improved and became more stable. The transmission mount certainly helped. Replacing the radiator wasn't planned, but the original went bad and the car ran horribly when hot. However, the car ran SO much better after doing the wires and plugs.

Nice ride. I like your custom pistons :) It looks like your spending some money on all that lingenfelter stuff. It should run good. I'm in the middle of my LT1 swap right now. Check out my 89 "SS" and let me know what you think.
