Updated: Sept 26 - 2007

damn it's been a long time! like 2 years or so...

let's recap these last few years...

i've upgraded some parts of macetero, first i got a retuneable ecu so i'm able to burn my own eeproms to control timing and fuel maps. i also got a pod air filter and an improved manual boost controller so power raised to 185 whp according to gtech (which matched dynojet with dynojet figures in other measured cars). the car was decent for the small amount of mods, it ran the same as a stock 2005 350z (about 99 mph on quarter mile, slow, but good enough for what it had).

i also bought some non engine parts like a bucket seat for the driver and a set of Enkei RP01 16 Inch Rims which improved the look and ride performance

afterwards i bought a whole turbo kit from xspower which included Turbo, Intercooler, external wastegate, exhaust manifold, dump pipe, blow off valve, fuel pressure regulator.

Jano200sx's 1991 Nissan 200SX

i sold the turbo because it was too huge and since it was chinese i didn't feel comfortable with it.

i also bought a set of 4 720cc Venom fuel injectors which i haven't installed and an Water/Alcohol injection system which is under installation.

for boost management i bought an apexi avc-r which is also under installation now.

wel.. the car has been sleeping for 4 months now.. long story, very sad and dissapointing.

installation procedures include FMIC, "Alky" and AVC-R, and a new induction for the turbo with an RB25DET MAF and a K&N new air filter.

power should raise from 185 whp to 215 or 220whp or so.. still with original turbo.

i actually don't know if i'll get another turbo since my interests have changed in these years, but if i do, i'd buy a garrett t3/t04e trim 54. good for 400whp, more than enough for me.

nowadays, macetero's paint is a mess so if i keep it i should be painting it.

i suppose i have to test it and enjoy it for a moment because it's been a long time and i miss it very much.

well, it's been a while :D , so far a few things have been going on.

when my friend and i installed the mitsu dsm bypass we forgot a tiny detail, we recirculated it in the wrong place, i thought i had a pcv valve to keep the oil vapors away from returning to the valve cover. however i was wrong, and that made the pressure go back to the oil sump, and force oil into the turbo making it smoke.. besides, some water hoses went dead and i began to leak water..
in the end, i had to take the car to the shop again.

the guys at the shop told me what happened and at first i didn't beleive them cause i was so sure of having that one way valve that would stop pressure from coming back to the valve cover..

well yes.. it was my bad, and i realized when the pcv hose broke down and i replaced it, i noticed that the hose doesn't have a valve, it only had some kind of restrictor to stop liquid oil from entering the admission, however, oil vapors seems to condense and enter the admission anyway, i think this should be normal, the smoke went away after letting the bypass dump the pressure to the atmosphere, so i asked a friend of mine, at IRD's secret insanity projects division, to mod this bypass in order to change it into a Blow off Valve. ah so he did :D
he made a really nice and shiny valve out of my DSM bypass.

Jano200sx's 1991 Nissan 200SX

we also had new brake discs (original)
new ferodo brake pads
Liquimoly DOT 5.1 Racing brake fluid
and new blood for the heart of this spoiled child
Castrol RS 10w60 Racing
well at least now it has good products to keep it in good shape

i think that's all for now

Finally!!! Macetero is alive after SO much time...
the car was ready on august 1st, then i drove around 1000 miles to let the internals get used to the car :P

in the end, a lot of work was done, met me try to remember..

- new pistons (with new crankshaft and connecting rod bearings)
- new turbo (original TB2525, i know it sucks, but my "Sponsor" decided to leave the car brand new with stock parts..)
- new clutch kit
- new walbro fuel pump (GSS341)
- new Ground Kit
- replaced dirty cheap BOV with a Mitsu DSM 1st gen ByPass

after all this time, a few new Dynos arrived to chile so i was able to measure Macetero in a very early first state, and i was rather happy with the results.. 168 whp and 201 lbft of torque, a boost spike as you can see the dyno sheets but a good friend of mine has been helping me with the car.

well.. not very good news actually, i just felt like writing what's happened since the last update..
basically i haven't been able to have the car ready.
after the engine overhaul i still had the smoke problem that's been bothering me for months..
every body said it was either the turbo, or the valves and valve guides and seals.. so we bought a new turbo.. a garrett GT22, small but the guys at the shop where we bought it said that it would match the car.
an Argentinian mechanic was recommended to us (argentinians knowledge in mechanics is recognized in the continent...)
so he installed the gt22 but some work had to be done to properly fit the turbo.
to make the story short... the smoke problem appeared after a very short while, so we thought that could be a valve problem..
so.. we had to open up the engine.. AGAIN, with all the costs that are involved. bought new valves, new guides and shit...
but guess what.. the problem still persisted..
everyone that saw the car after that concluded that it was a turbo problem and that the turbo had to be replaced..
well.. and that's where we are now.. i have to remove the turbo these days and try to get a refund or a turbo change from the dealer... i hope everything goes smoothly and i can finally put to an end to my car's "macetero" state... (in chile, plant containers are refered as maceteros, in the end, a static cooked mud vase where plants grow...)

Jano200sx's 1991 Nissan 200SX

Macetero matching the vegetal enviroment around...

when i bought the car, i was interested in performance rather than anything else..

if you ask me today.. i only want to drive my car without problems... and cruise through a coastal road with my girlfriend feeling the wind and my turbo whistling...
let's hope God thinks the same :D

FINALLYYYYYYY :D
engine overhaul, new pistons, connecting rod bearings, and crankshaft bearings, a brand new clutch kit, and a walbro fuel pump that's coming on the way..

Some new Picz and a new mod, 3'' Exhaust piping with custom muffler :D

Jano200sx's 1991 Nissan 200SX

i went to a high place, near where i live and took this one, in the background is the polluted city of Santiago.

Jano200sx's 1991 Nissan 200SX

Same location from another angle. the new exhaust can be seen, about numbers, the g-tech recorded 162 whp @ 0.6 bar falling to 0.4 ,a 12 whp gain at the same boost since last measure (150 whp, about 175 to the crank). it seems that i have a boost leak somewhere the process of fine tuning is taking place in these days, i hope i can get better results in the future :D

Jano200sx's 1991 Nissan 200SX

this one is from my second floor room in a really nice shiny day :D

The ICE project was aborted, the reason was that after a few tests, the hard drive was really bumpy and sustained some damage, so i sold the screen, and bought a new radio, a Sony Xplod CDX-L490B , not the creme of the crop... but it sounds pretty decent for my taste.

Jano200sx's 1991 Nissan 200SX

Added my friend "Kia"'s sleeper on page 3, check it out ;D

Due to the annoying messages from some uninformed readers, i feel the need to clarify that my car IS a 200sx and not a 180 or a 240 as some people say (who seem to have no knowledge about it).

Nissan Chile brought them as 200sx, the model exported for non-europe countries. i scanned from my Workshop manual the way to identify the car..

Jano200sx's 1991 Nissan 200SX

Jano200sx's 1991 Nissan 200SX

my car's code says RS13...
i hope the confusion is solved

i had an accident racing downhill a few weeks ago.. and i was lucky to save myself and the car..
the price was very cheap.. i only ripped 2 tires.. if i would not have practiced drifting.. i might have died...

Thanks God...thanks Macetero... Thanks Keiichi Tsuchiya for teaching me the techniques.. for survival..

the ride is ok.. i bought 3 new sumitomo tires.. so now im wearing a full Sumitomo set
195/50 r 15 at the front and
19560 r 15 at the back..

that was a close one....

added a ride to my friends list
a 1977 Toyota Celica, owned by my good friend Claudio, check it on page 3 ;)

added some more pics

Jano200sx's 1991 Nissan 200SX

because of the drifting and donuts.. i had to replace my rear tires.. so i bought a couple of Sumitomo HTR 200
lets see how good they are...

finally i got the chance to practice drifting! i posted a picture in page 2
:D

Boost Pressure Decreased to 0.6 Bar for safety precautions until engine overhaul is done

lately i've met a lot of 200sx fans and owners around the world, one of them showed me his page and i wanted to put a link so you guys can check it out.. the url it's on my friend's cars page (page 3)

i built the air fuel meter, but it doesn't seem to be working, maybe i misread the plans or something, i'll continue the "research" on that issue..

i was about to get mentaly insane because of my crappy audio system :P

surfing the web, i saw that there was an audi a4 with a very interesting ICE system.. so "all good ideas should be imitated" i decided to try my own version of this In Car Entertainment system.. so i bought a 7'' lcd monitor and a very small amplificator.. to power up a bit the volume.

i'll post pics of the project as it develops..

meanwhile this is the monitor that i bought.

Jano200sx's 1991 Nissan 200SX

My engine, CA18DET, 1.8 liter DOHC Turbocharged Engine, with a Garrett T-28 Turbo @ 13 psi :D im still working on the car, i hope to get some upgrades soon

Jano200sx's 1991 Nissan 200SX

i ordered a manual boost regulator, from http://www.boostcontroller.com/
it took a while to get here... but finally it did. It looks like this

Jano200sx's 1991 Nissan 200SX

A friend of mine gave me a web address about detailed plans of an Air/Fuel Ratio Meter, so im currently working on it, im almost ready with that... so i made a design, based on what i read in the page mentioned before..

What happens when you step on a just "fixed" t25 @ max boost without a blow off valve and a boost gauge, at 7000 rpm?
easy.. you just make a new pencil holder out of your turbo...

Jano200sx's 1991 Nissan 200SX

The car's interior... The Steering wheel, a Momo Corse, at that time, i had no radio, later i installed a pretty normal radio.. for now i'm more interested in performance rather than Audio
