We picked this 1967 Vista Cruiser 8 passenger wagon up in 2008 with the Idea of using it as a tow car for our 1970 play-mor trailer and showing the two thru out the California area. The car was short a few options so the search began the list inclued tilt steering, roof rack,Disc Brakes,Rear sway bar,A/C and AM/FM Radio. There were some interior Issues the right door top Upholestry was very worn and the seat springs were saging other that that the stock interior was very intact. The guys down at Hemet auto Upholestry took care of these problems the interior retains the stock look I picked up a stock AM radio that I keep on the shelf and got a vintage look Am/FM I pod ready unit for clear tunes the I pod took the place of a disc change and fits in glove box. Found the tilt steering in Texas via E bay. The roof rack in Phoenix listed on a for sale page of oldsmobile parts the correct rack in great condition. The rear sway bar turned into Ajustable upper and boxed in Hotchkis control arms. And Air shocks to carry the load of the Vintage travel trailer. The disc brakes had to go. Purchased a very nice disc brake set up on E bay came complete as a bolt on set up worked fantastically the rear drums freshened up. As for wheels and tires I had planed to go with white walls and wire caps but after the disc brake upgrade I found out that my 14 inch wheels would not work so ended up with Rally wheels and T/A Radials. The 330 2 barrel engine needed an overhaul but remained stock for the most part did upgrade the distributor to a HEI unit that did the job. As luck would have it a friend of mine opened a powder coating shop recently California Custom powder coating and I was able to afford to PC all brackets, tin, the intake, hood hinges, radiator support, hood latch and Air Cleaner. I had done a bit of researh and found out about this 67 only Air Cleaner System called Climatic combustion controlled air cleaner that was part of a turnpike package I found the air cleaner on E bay I am still working on the down tube and trying to find the top tin. This package also included a 400 turbo trans I was lucky enough to already have in the car the original owner had order it when new and the correct geared rear end. As for the A/C it has still eluded me. I purchased an addon Air conditioning unit on E bay as a complete unit but it did not work out I have been chaseing down brackes, pullys and parts!! A/C is going to happen! The car now is in service and towing the trailer runs and ride just like 1967 we have won a few car show trophys so far and are very happy with this wonderful car. Hope all of you like it as much. by the way we're very proud to show on this site with the other wonderful cars that grace these pages.
