Well, it all started when needing a car. I was turning 16 soon, and, having a history in nothing but working on cars, I just had to have something worthwhile. Well, I had my 1998 Dodge Ram SS/T. I love that truck, but, 11 mpg would kill me for everyday. So, the quest for a car was jump started.
Me, being 16, and realizing money was indeed a limiting factor, I was pushed back a few years into the mildy aged cars. So, looking through a Keels and Wheels cars for sale newspaper, there was this car. "A Chrysler Conquest?" I asked my dad. One badass looking car, but to boot, my dad replied, "Yeah bud. I remember when they came out. They were some badass cars in their day."
Welp. Thats all it took. I was hooked. Immediatley, everyday after school, I was on the internet looking for a Conquest. During this search, I learned a lot about the turbocharged 2.6L SOHC inline 4 cylinder powered Mitsubishi built sports car in which they are...also known as, the Mitsubishi Starion.
After looking, I found a fiji blue 1988 Conquest in Baltimore, MD, which I was visiting in the near weeks. Went and looked at it in person, and, other than the shady dude selling it and the shady history of the car, seeing one in person got me hooked that much more. The next day, I found another in Rockville, MD. Looked at it, and it needed work, more than I wanted to do, but...it was still driving my want for one of these cars. So, then, pulled up the third car which I found on Starquestclub.com in the for sale section, in Harrisburg, PA. Went and looked at her, a black on black 1987 with a freshened up motor in her, perfect interior and hardly any rust to speak of besides the usual frame.
So, there she was on the trailer in the coming days and taken to my stepdad's garage, where I sanded the car down, popped some dents and did some body work during the day, and my stepdad at night. After two straight weeks of non-stop work, she was ready for a fresh coat of X15 Serbia Black acrylic enamel, exactly that of the original which actually held its own pretty well.

Meanwhile, after this, I haven't even driven the car yet, and keep in mind, I'm about to make a 1200 mile trip to Florida in a few days. So, we got her running smooth, went out and put 50 hard miles on it, in attempt to break anything that may break on the way, and, well, nothing did. Still, I got some phone numbers from StarQuesters along my route, and we headed off. 1200 miles rolling
along smooth as a Rolex, not even a stutter the entire trip.
So, to begin wrapping up the saga, got her down to Florida and wetsanded her all the way to 3000 grit, pretty much, wax paper. Buffed it out, and threw several coats of wax on, and the true Black Majik shown brightly in a dark kind've way. To add a subtle detail, I got the original stickers in flat black, and painted the centers of the original rims black with some chrome lug nuts and a polished lip. Needless to say, she's beautiful, and I baby her like she were my child. Driven it everyday for 15,000 miles so far with only the cooling system needing freshened. A wash and wax every weekend as well as a fresh coat of armorall to keep the Florida sun away, and shine beautiful she does.
The quest for a Quest was complete.
