1999 Chevrolet Camaro SS SLP #3418
Rocking over 200K miles and still good compression and runs great. Hooker long tube headers, SLP high flow cats and Loudmouth with Moroso spiral mufflers and stock SS tips (pictures are still with the Flowmaster muffler). It sounds deep and mellow with a good performance sound. I also have a LS6 intake, 28# injectors, MTI lid, K&N filter, 160 thermostat and I did all the freebie mods including ported throttle body, cut air box/ram air, throttle body bypass, !EGR, !AIR, WS6store short stick with Hurst leather knob, hopefully soon I'll get a pro 5.0 shifter. I've got some new axle shafts and an Auburn diff and MAC TA diff cover on the way and soon some 4.10s and I'll be going to the track to hopefully lay down some 12s. The only other performance piece I want is an under drive pulley and I’ll be satisfied until the rebuild/swap.
I also have Summit lowering springs, rear sway bar, strut tower bar, tubular lower control arms and panhard bar, and would like to upgrade the front sway bar soon as well as add some good street performance shocks and struts and some sub frame connectors.
Appearance wise it is pretty much stock but the SS looks good enough already. I got the T/A gauge bezel which cleans up the instrument panel and looks better. The thin tall Hurst leather shift knob is definitely the only style that belongs on 4th gens. Leather shift boot and e-brake boot are soon to come. I also plan on doing the whistler headlight mod soon to the stock lights. The projector lights are okay but too much in my opinion, borders on rice. I might get some clear front corner lights eventually but that is about all.
I have a complete set of C5 Corvette brakes to put on when I get the time, red calipers, cross drilled and slotted rotors, SS braided lines. I'm going to drive with the stock engine until it goes which will probably be a while and I’ll either rebuild it with heads and cam upgrade or drop in LS2,3,6,7, whichever is cheaper, easier and will still give daily driver comfort and reliability. At that point I will add true dual exhaust pipes and some wider black ZR-1 wheels and a 12 bolt axle with 3.73 gears.
