I'll start off with a bit about the car.

I picked it up locally on a whim actually. For years I've wanted one of these and then out of nowhere it shows up for sale. So after hours of pining over the pictures on the craigslist ad, I meet the guy. Turns out he owns several other bimmers, and is looking to clear some garage space. After a test-drive and a once over by my mechanic, I decided to buy it. We agreed upon a price and I got to take it home.

I knew it wasn't perfect; far from it actually. It had 230K on the motor, the interior was a bit rough, and he'd repainted the car himself.. and not done an intirely masterful job.

A few minor repairs were first:

-out with the sludge, and in with some high-mileage fully synthetic oil from Castrol / Bosch filter

-a new set of performance ignition wires from Bavarian Auto Sport mated with new plugs put a bit of zip back into the car as well

-while i was in there, i also serviced the ICV.. not as big a task as many make it out to be, and a noticeable result

-i also dropped the old trans fluid and put in fresh synthetic gear oil.. Castrol as well
