nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

I currently don't have possession of the car. I will be receiving it in a few days. It is a teal base model Beretta. It has 112,000 miles on the 3.1L V6. I will be able to drive it in November. It needs the whole interior redone. The engine runs good and the body only has two miniscule rust spots. This is my project car that I have been waiting for since I was about ten. I will hopefully be doing most of the work by myself. My dad and uncle may help me along the way since they have worked on cars (street legal to race cars) all of their lives.

Since the car is only $200, I should be able to do a lot of modifications. Some of the modifications that I'd like to do include:

***(Items starred Ihave)

-Z26 or Aftermarket Bodykit ***

-Aftermarket Performance Muffler***

-Full Black Interior

-Z26 or Aaftermarket Rims***

-Cold Air Intake***(ram air)

-Neons (Inside and Out)*(trunk)

-Sound system (Head Unit, Subs, 5 1/4" speakers, and 1500 or above Watt Amp)***(headunit, 12" sub,4 stock 5 1/4's,and small 100 watt amp)

-Window Tint (5%)

6/12/09 Update!!!!!

I talked to my uncle this morning and he is able to get me full charcoal interior from a black Z26. He can also get me the sideskirts, rear bumper and spoiler from the factory appearance package. Also, he can get me 15" cavy rims. I know, not very big , but anything is better than rusted 14" steelies.

6/15/09 Update!!!!!

We will be going to pick up the car tonight. I should have pictures up by tommorrow. Also, someday later this week we will be going to get the parts off of the cars in the junkyard. I will have time to think about what other mods I can afford. I found that in the Summit tools catalog, they have House of Kolor paint. The primer is about $25 a can base colors start from about $45 a can.

We picked it up. The brake lines need replaced, so the brakes didn't work very well. We used the e-brake slightly a couple of times. The gas also is bad. It may have water in it. My dad said that it just needs to be run out. Ater about 10 minutes on the road, it kept breaking up and dropping by about 250 rpm's.

I can't believe it's only marked up to 120mph.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

Here's the AM radio and automatic tranny. It's gotta go.

The interior, as I said is trash. and also smells like dogs.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

There are the front disk brakes underneath the old steelies.

Here is a shot from the rear.

The gas door had broken off about a year ago.

The horrible 14" steelies.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

The guy that we bought it from gave us $50 off if he kept the battery.  My dad had a battery, but it was a little too big, the reason for the hood being bungie strapped down.

The keys soon won't match the car's appearance, so we're getting new ones made.

Tomorrow, the disassembly starts.

Video of a walk around last night.

If you watched my walk around video, you can tell how much dirt I cleaned out of the engine bay.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

I want to paint the valve covers red after I repaint the car.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

I scraped almost all of the old, dirty paint off of the valve cover.nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

I took off the door panels and the passenger seat so far.

I ordered a muffler off of ebay today from Tool Shed of America, and I should be able to pick up a Dual 12" subwoofer and other interior stuff tmorrow.

Update!!! 6/18/09

My RS Racing muffler arrived today. Also, I went to Walmart and bought a Dual head unit and a VR3 12" subwoofer. I don't want too many db's or to spend a load of cash, so I got lower grade stuff. The woofer is rated at 400 watts and the Head unit is 60 watts. I am not planning on entering a sound competition anytime soon.I didn't get an amp yet, but will probably get one off of ebay, maybe an 800. I'm not putting the muffler on yet, because I don't plan on driving it soon and it wuld be a pain to cover up while painting. Also, I don't need the sound system and I don't know what kind of dash the Z26 interior may have either. We also plan on painting the whole interior space while it is free of the parts. On that note, here are some pics.

This is the Dual head unit. 60 watts with a USB charging port and a port for my Zune to plug into.(Picked up the plug for that also.) This faceplate detaches and it lights up blue.

This is the RS Racing muffler. The total length is, 21 inches long and the tip is 4 inches.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

This is the tip compared to a 3 1/4" 12 guage shell.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

These are the new floor mats that I got. It's a set of 4.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

This is the 12" VR3 subwoofer that I got. It's 400 watts. I'm planning on building a custom enclosure for it.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

This is a Pilot L.E.D. stick that I bought for in the enclosure. It glows red.

Tomorrow, I plan on completing the disassembly of the interior. On Saturday at 8 o'clock, my dad, uncle, brother-in-law, and I are going to the junkyard to scrap the interior, rear bumper, sideskirts, and spoiler from a black Z26 Beretta and get some 15" Cavy wheels.

Update!!!6/19/09

Today, I got Most of the rest of the interior removed with my brother-in-law and dad's help. It's sad that it looks better stripped done with nothing inside than with the old rags of interior that were in it. I'll soon have a video of the new head unit hookedup to the stock speakers. The video is with just with the stock 5 1/2's and stock 6x9's. No subwoofer yet. It is loud and clear for stock. I'm not upgrading until they start to blow after hearing them. They sound nice.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

The dash, bare as can be.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

The passenger side door panel is removed.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

The rear seat and rear carpet is removed also.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

This is how the headunit looks in the dark.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

This is how it looks in the light, but uninstalled because ther is no dash to put it into until Saturday.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

This is what it looks like on top of where the stock 6x9's are mounted. I have no clue why they would put them in the trunk and underneath the carpet.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

This is the same thing at another angle.

nateDSM's 1993 Chevrolet Beretta

This is another shot of it sitting in the garage. It has no clue what kind of a transformation it is in for.

It's getting closer and closer to painting time. I think i'm going murdered out. Black paint, black wheels, charcoal interior, and red accents from the trunk L.E.D. lights and maybe red underglow just for show.

This is the link to my stock sound system vid.

Update:-(  :-(  :-(

Today it rained so hard that there was no way that we could have gotten parts from the junkyard. We will be going next Saturday or maybe another day this week. Until next Saturday, I will be stripping the rest of the interior and maybe prepping for paint since we can't put the interior in until it's painted anyways.

I ordered a ram air intake kit on ebay today. Just another minor performance mod.
