This two-piece driveshaft safety loop is specifically designed to fit the Pontiac G8.
The two components are laser cut from high-grade steel, and the loop portion is bent on a CNC press. Both pieces are powdercoated black for long lasting surface protection.
The loop mount attaches to the factory transmission crossmember using two existing holes (one must be enlarged slightly to accomodate the provided 3/8" bolt), and the loop installs directly to the loop mount using the provided hardware. The kit installs without having to remove the driveshaft and is designed to provide maximum clearance for both the driveshaft and the exhaust system.
All necessary hardware and installation instructions are provided in the kit. No special tools are required for installation

Tools needed:
Jack and jack stands-- 3/8 drill bit or a rat tail file-- Drill-- Two 9/16 wrench's one of which needs to be a 9/16 deep well socket and ratchet--A bit of blue Loctite is good insurance even though it comes with lock washers.
The setup took me about 30 minutes. Now that I know how it all goes together, I could do another one in about half that time.
This is a real high quality product, that helps prep the car for the track. This was a thick metal very precise product that fits the G8 perfectly!

Start by jacking the car up and placing jack stands below.

Next get the loop pieces in place between the exhaust right behind the transmission. You will see the linkage to the shifter right above your work place. Next you will take a 3/8ths inch drill bit and drill into the transmission crossmember. The hole is already there with a thin metal tab that has to be cut using the drill bit for the bolts to fit.

In the first picture here you can see the corner of the transmission for reference point as to your work area.

After tapping the two holes out to the 3/8ths size you can put the nut with the locking washer on.

Here is the unit bolted down.

Hard to tell but it goes in this order. The black plate with the loop directly on top of that. The bolt with the locking washer goes through both pieces and then into the small steel piece provided with this kit

Here is the finished product in place. You can adjust the unit to give the most room on both sides which is great!

Last but not least, don't forget to show your thanks to the company that provided such a quality product! Here is their decal mounted under the hood on my radiator cover.
