Sittin' fresh on the show room floor!
This is my newest ride! Its a spunky little Ford Focus coupe. It wasn't ordered, but it has every option I was looking for. I searched a long time for a new vehicle and Ford has definately done some research in grabbing the attention of the younger generation. The only other car the would have been better would be the VW Rabbit (golf, same thing) because it handled and drove better as well as I like German imports. But the Focus had the price as well as other goodies.
The 2009 Focus SES Coupe is the flagship Focus for performance and looks. All coupe SES models are equiped with a slightly different exhaust which gives it a deeper tone and a small up of 3 horsepower (grand total of 143 horsepower). Also standard on the SES coupe is the rear roof wing, 17" rims, blackened headlight, taillights, and grill.
As for factory options my car has the "moon and tune value package". Which is pretty nice. The "moon" part equips the car with an electric moon roof. The "tune" is the greatest part though, it adds the Focus audiophile . Which means it upgrades the factory speakers as well as adds a factory sub which I'm assuming to be an 8". Similar to what I installed into my Audi are the interior lights. I believe its seven different colors of light that can be shot into the floor boards, cup holders, and rear area too. The only down fall is the dash cannot change colors like the mustang's dash lights can, which would be a great addition so that the ambient lighting and the dash match all the time. And of course it's a manual tranny .
Performance wise I think the focus isn't the worst thing in the world. It handles decently and 0-60 is slow but its a 4cyc lets be real here.
0-60 stock w/ Stability control: ~9.7seconds
0-60 stock w/o Stability control : ~8.4seconds
Keep in mind these were self timed so they probably are not 100%. However, w/o stability is only .2 second slower than the advertised 0-60 time, so its close. And I'm surprised I can get that close considering I'm not a professional driver.
(7/3/09) Cold air intake from Roush Performance !
Estimated a plus of 7 horsepower, I'd say in reality its about 3-4 horsepower but I can hope. Which puts me now just shy of 150 horsepower total. I'll self test my 0-60 times soon to see if there is any improvement. It is much louder and a bit more responsive as well.
I've told you about 0-60 stock and now I've upgraded. Well I don't know 0-60 however, I do have 65ft of burn out marks at work. Dropped the clutch at 5 grand pedal to the floor through SECOND gear (thats the short gap in the line) decent bit of tire smoke too. measures out just over 65 feet up the parking lot hill out behind work!
(6/29/09) Bit the bullit and shaved the Focus. I can't pull the ford emblem because it has guide holes, but the FOCUS and SES slipped right off.

The tools I used (minus the hair dryer ). Washed the trunk well . Then used a hair dryer to soften the sticky stuff on the back of the lettering. It's a simple trick I'm sure most everyone has heard of. Next I used dental floss to floss off the lettering. I had to use one big string of floss and it took just seconds to pull through the sticky backing. Finally I peeled off the excess by heating it up and rolling it off with my fingers. Then I took some Goo Gone to clean up the light residual residue and finally I rewashed the whole car. Oh, I also used a NOS energy drink because it was hot outside and it's one of the best drinks on the market in my opinion
I know I'm going to get the windows tinted . I want the rear sides 5% the fronts 20% along with the brow, however I'm leaning towards 30-40% for the rear.
I'd love to do a r/s front look to it, that should be done within the next few weeks. I got a paint estimate and its very affordable.
Got a decent mod done today (6/29/09). Inside the trunk I put some blue L.E.D. strips. They look nice and really light up the trunk and the light shines out on to the bumper too.
When the trunk pops there is a blue glow peering around the edges. I love it!
(6/30/09) A mild interior add on today. Took the top of a NOS energy drink cap, painted it, and attached it to my blinker/wiper arm. Check it out! Tell me what you think.
(6/30/09) I got a new shift knob. It's an antique style #14 pool ball, which is a green stripe. Check it out!
(07/06/09) At the dealer getting the SYNC updated to get 911 assist and vehicle history reports. It's an old school dealer check out the neon signage they parked her under.
Here is a beautiful example of a cool but rather unhelpful tool brought to us by Ford and Microsoft. My vehicle health report, which showed I had brake problems because I had my parking brake on. It was a cool idea, but how overly plain and rather general the information provided from the report was.
Finally got my windows tinted, 15% all around with a banner. It turned out excellent I love the look!
