I bought this car between my junior and sonior highschool year.
It is a 1988 Mazda RX7 Convertible.
It has a stock 4.10 rear diff and 4 piston front calipers.
It was already custom painted, lowered, and hood-gutted.
It was purchased without the rotary. I prefer cylinder engines.
I selected the VG30DETT with a five speed as a sutible replacement.
I'll start from the beginning.
My friend invited me over to see his red 240sx (visible on the edge of the frame)
I saw the RX7 just sitting there and took this with my phone.
My 1967 Custom 500 can be seen in the background.
At this point I didn't know anything about it.
I didnk know about the lowering kit, big calipers, neons, guages, or even that it was a rear-wheel-drive.
I already wanted it.
It was staring at the transmition tunnel when I realized that it was read wheel drive for the first time.
I bought it and went to work on it
.
I traded him the stock BBS rims for a set of American Racing dual-5 lug pattern 17x7.5" Aluminum rims
The tires needed to be replaced though.
I selected Yokohama Parada Spec-2
205 45 ZR 17
They work very well.
I also went ahead and replaced all the suspension bushings with polyurathane.
I bought the set from Energy Suspension.
Grant steering wheel
Too bad my guages were out when I took this
I ordered the engine from Bestofjdm.com
I found the Godspeed intercoolers on ebay.
3" thick Bar & plate
Seen here with my size 13 feet.
Heres what I got so far
Fluidyne Radiator
Still a work in progress. I need a smaller brake booster and an oil filter relocation kit still. I dont have any current pictures of my pipes.
